I know every engine timing needs are different and depending on your distributor setup/cam profile and personal beliefs we all set them up differently.
I am running a 401 nailhead (turbocharged) and locked in at 28* right now. No mech advance just 6btm box and at 1:1 for boost to timing being pulled out. I was a little higher with the timing at 34* ,32*, and 30*but would get a pinging on light accell just over 1/4 throttle as the weather gets warmer. I set it up in the winter and everything was just fine but as the air changes my setup has been too. Just interested in what some of you guys found with your setup as weather got warmer or when you traveled and altitude changes?
My AFR where on the rich side and I had fouled plugs. Porclein on the plugs where not white, white instead all 8 fouled up.. realized I drive a lot more on the idle circuit than I thought and had to lean it up to around 13:1 from the 10.5:1 it was at on the idle circuit.

IIRC.. I was running 24 initial with 10* mechanical advance in at 2000 rpm and pulling 1* per lb. of boost with a Mallory 6 box. Stall was 2800. So basically, when I left the line I was at 34* and as the boost builds it pulls it back.

I was running about 10 lbs of boost on a 350..

Is it a hot air setup?

The compressor is open in the avatar not sure where the plumbing is headed, but with iron heads and hot air I wouldn't get near 30degrees. With Meth,e85, or intercooled 32 would be my "kill" setting. I base this off my GN and the several turbo cars ive
Helped with etc. We stay around 26 to 28 with or LS junk and sbf's. My GN never saw over 24 and that was only in first gear
