Have a part i have no idea what is on my 72 Riviera intake. Hoping someone can help me figure out what this missing rotted off part is and what do do about it? It does not seem to exist on my 71 gs version so i assume it has to do with emissions.

It can be removed and blocked off.its for a 72 up emission line. Not needed

Yeah i was continuing to try to figure it out and it seems like it goes to the AIR pump which is not even on my car any more. What's the best way to block that off?

If that was my engine, I would get rid of all the emissions devices. Put an aluminum intake on the engine and paint it red. Was reading your other thread on vacuum connections. There is more than one way to connect vacuum lines. Some devices need ported vacuum, others need manifold vacuum. Hook those things up and cap off everything else. Transmission vacuum modulator, Power Brake booster, and air cleaner use Manifold vacuum. The distributor vacuum advance can use ported or manifold vacuum, depending on your preference. That's it.

It's what's left of the A.I.R. check valve.

If this is a motor you're rebuilding, I'd probably do as Larry suggested and put an Edelbrock Performer intake on it. If this is something you're trying to get back on the road, it wouldn't be hard to fabricate a little aluminum blockoff plate and gasket for it. Amazing what you can do with a bandsaw, drill press, and sanding station... or with a CNC.

I'll CNC one for you if you want, but it would probably take me 2 weeks (going on vacation starting tomorrow). Send me a PM if that would help you out.

This is my driver car so for the moment i found a really big bolt that fit in good and just blocked it off with that. However since i was already ordering a new set of headers to fix a crack in the manifold, and since i already have a spare set of stage 1 iron heads lying around going to toss those on along with a new edlebrock intake at same time.
