Now, If I take one of the 425 nailheads that I have and put it into my 85 Ford f150 truck , would that make it a BU-FORD ?????????:Brow: :Brow:
i have 3 but I dont know what condition they are in. I havent pulled them out of the cars to see. i am positive that they are ''frozen up''. What started this idea is the fact that the 302 fi engine in the Ford will not get over 14 mpg. My 64 riv with a 425 gets 18 on the road and has bunches of power. the same engine in the truck would have more power and get better milage because the truck is 1000 lb. lighter than the riv.
The Ford engine bay might reject it at first, but with proper planning and the right antibiotics (some Lucas oil stabilizer) I think it can be done. Just like a kidney transplant :bla:
Doc, I like they way you think. But I would have to call it...:idea2:a Fuick. Just a thought...I bet the Buick has better aerodynamics...you might end up with about the same gas mileage and more power. All that work just for a Fuick! :Brow:
It'll work Doc...my '56 Ford panel truck has a dual quad 401 and it loves it! It even says B-U-F-O-R-D on the rear doors! LOTS of fun for this old fart! Frank
Well, i was comparing, the nailhead is heavier than the 302 alright, but the water pump and alt, and ps pump is all in the same locations as the ford. the turbo 4 is so similar to the c6 that that wont be a problem, The starters are on the same side. The exhaust manifolds should work if I can come up with some that will miss everything as they turn down. now as i said the buick engine will get better milage and have bunches more power than the ford. I just wonder if any one else has done this swap with a nail head before, I know there is at least one who has with a 455 but i am sure that a nailer would be easier.
I'm using '65 Skylark GS manifolds to keep the heat away from the floorboard on the driver's side. The truck has a Camaro front clip, and everything fits great...it must have been an option that year.
