Hope you all had a great weekend. Let’s see what you worked on this weekend. If it was just making burgers that’s great to... I worked on tracing and removing the rats nest wiring from the 70.
I hooked up my swamp cooler, picked up 3 dogs worth of poop. Weekend still ain't over though, just drank a coffee so there will be more work done.
Working on : sanity And : lawn , pool , small close car show . Rainy may n June , this Fri , sat , Sunday perfect .
Spent the weekend stripping off two layers of shingles on house roof, 20 sheets of 7/16" Zipboard on. I'll tape the seams with the flashing tape and shingle it next weekend weather permitting. No Buick fun this weekend, unfortunately. ......Jim
I worked on tracing and removing the rats nest wiring from the 70. I have several pairs of wire cutters, from small electronics ones to MEGA lineman's pliers. I LOVE CUTTING OUT OLD AMATUER WIRING!!! Grab a multimeter, disconnect the battery and go to it boy! It really sucks when ya get down by the starter, but is all SOOOO worth it when its done; and everything works! Are you gonna dump the Frankenstein charging system and go with a one wire alternator? That will eliminate 30 feet of 6 colors of wire, and 14 plugs that are all taped up anyway. Mine had multiple gage wires, all different colors, twisted together with gooey black tape. Not even a friggin' wire nut, just to make it look like an electrician done it. Out of habit, I still pop the positive cable off the battery when parked for the night until they prove themselves "trustworthy" LOL... ws
So that raises a question... if you upgrade alternator what does that do to the value of the car? You gain ease and reliability but do you lose originality credit?
You rub some engine grime on it and hang a fake wire, then shine on the haters... Life's too short to worry about this unless it is an original/correct car. Mine is not, but I built it "Period Correct" and what we did to cars in the day, getting the "better/cooler" parts of the bigger/faster cars of the same make, and doing what hot rodders do. Since that time, I have been adding "new and improved" to mine. It still appears (mostly) stock, and I try and make any additions "appear factory". Sail on Bill. Fair Winds and Following seas and make some waves!
She was happy, that bank has been overflowed. Over time I went from her most problematic child to the most dependable.
Haters and JUDGES... ARGHHHH. I dont hate, but I AM my own worst judge. Id consider the single wire job an upgrade and worth 5 MORE POINTS or an extra 500.00 whichever comes first. Dont overthink the "only original once" thing. Yo Mike! Sometimes you can only make waves by stirring the pot LOL. Thats a jim dandy doghouse there! ws
Mowed the yard, power washed the house, power wash a rear axle and a transmission for the Skylark. Mounted the accessory brackets on my 430. Drove the Skylark to diner last night and to church and grocery shopping this morning
