probably one with little to no overlap... most likely will have to be a custom grind... I think TA performance will do custom nailhead grinds
Re: what cam will I neede If you are building a FED Dragster, and you are trying to keep it period correct, including parts available in the day...you likely might have purchased an ISKY Cam. The hottest grind available out of the catalog was the 550 Super Le Gerra. This was available in flat tappet (hardface overlay) and roller applications. It was for all out drag racing purposes only. It was used in blown and naturally aspirated applications. These cams certainly got a very light car down the 1320, quickly. By todays standards this grind would be considered by many to be dated. :Smarty: Isky Specs for 550 Super Le Gerra: 282@ .050." Cam Lift .360. Valve lift .540. Intake opens 33 btdc. Intake Closes 69 abdc. Exhaust opens 69 bbdc. Exhaust Closes 33 atdc. 108 L/C If you think you might like such a grind, I have a NOS Hardface 550 Super Le Gerra, and Nos Chilled Iron Solid Lifters, that I might consider parting with. These came directly from Ron Iskenderian (Ed's Son). I am also building a 8-71 Blown 425 if you want to compare notes. Call me 518-523-9527 any time. Good Luck! Todd Rissberger
Todd I will be taking our 425 injected FED for testing in a few weeks. How far along are you with your project? Shoot me an email at jesupercat@yahoo.com, and anyone else that is in the process of building a Buick powered FED can also. It would be interesting to get a list of people and their projects together:Comp: I attached 2 shots of many that will be posted in a few days of our project on a new thread. Glad to see people bringing back some History:TU:
Does BDS still offer blower cams? I think they were having CompCams grind them. I know a guy running a blown 364 and I think he runs a TA-413 grind in his.
call Isky today and got the roller cam and all the springs I need for my blower motor will post pix when I start the build soon
Cool deal on the cam. What grind did you end up with, and what is the spring recommendation? ISKY is not making any more cams to my knowledge, however parts do surface from time to time. If you lucky to call on the right day, there are still NOS parts to be had... Todd Rissberger
I will post cam spec's when the cam come in and I will also let you know on the springs the stuff should come in next week Tom
