Yeah, that's the stock battery. The only variables are the orientation of the terminals. https://www.google.com/search?q=Group+24+battery&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1-ab
My next question for you or anyone here is: can I put a larger size battery in my car? What are the pros of a larger size battery? Do they have more “juice” in them? Does it send more power to the starter than a 24 size battery can? Or does size of battery have nothing to do with anything ?
Ahhh, have you looked at the amount of room you have for a battery. There isn't a lot of room to spare. The bigger battery will be able to crank the starter longer when your car won't start. Have a look in your Buick chassis manual. They tell you the physical size of the stock battery. I have a stock size battery, it serves me well.
This forum is the best. It’s awesome to be able to make a post and talk to people that know there stuff about Buick and cars in general. Thanks for all the info. I’m gonna take @flynbuick advice and grab a group 24 battery with the highest CCA possible . From what I can see in this thread CCA is about the only thing that matters when it comes to the battery sending it’s power to the starter. And when buying a battery I don’t see any other advertised specs that would make a battery start my car better , so..As long as I have that at its highest ,I will have a clear conscious on the battery situation knowing that the cca or ca is at the highest I can find .
I kinda of asked this question last year and got some good responses. In a nutshell, all batteries are made from I think 3 or 4 big companies. They all get the job done. I use whatever I can get, but don't like the gel cap batteries. I like something I can test and do maintenance on. Alot of people told me that they had good luck with interstates too.
FWIW I just replaced my 24 Series NAPA Legend (like new) with a 34 Series NAPA Legend with side and top posts. Not correct but more CCA and side post for a clean accessory power point (EFI, plug 'n play Battery Minder, etc.). Only owned 1 Optima and it blew up in my Jeep when just sitting. No idea what caused it. I'm back to lead/acid. I've heard the Optima ain't what it used to be. I got 10+ years out of both my AC Delco OEM batteries in my '05 Duramax. They never totally gave up the ghost but replaced them headed for vacation. Of course, I went straight to the dealer for new AC Delco.. have always had good luck with them over many years.
Batteries are abused. Invest in some good charging, and better yet, conditioning hardware and they can last a long time. The oldest in my "fleet" is a 7 year old Wallyworld unit that sits in a heap on the driveway unused most of the year. When my son is home (rarely) from college he drives the heap. Otherwise I plug the battery into the BatteryMinder for conditioning. It's by far, the strongest battery of the five I have because all the sulfation is cooked out of it by the Minder.
