What air pressure for trailer tires?

Standard open car trailer, dual axle, steel construction with full floor.
Tire sidewall states a 'maximum' of 50 psi, but I can't find specs for normal operation. I'm guessing 35-40 would be close? or do I need more?

I would use the 50 number. Lower press on a trlr tire sets you up for tire failure, generally caused by under-inflation or excessive side wall fexing under a load.
If the tire manuf specifies 50, that's where I'd run them. Keep the bearings adjusted and lubed and check the tires for heat build up when you stop for gas.:TU:

I keep mine about 5 lbs. under the max as they will heat up and the pressure will rise as it's on the road, especially hauling something.

On my trailer I have BFG TA radials and keep them at 40psi . On My truck have same tires and when pulling trailer loaded I put 40 in the rear tires and the fronts stay as usual
