I need to know how high of psi rating of an air compressor I need and what amount of rated torque air ratchet gun I need to get to loose the lower crank bolt that holds the harmonic balancer, thanks out there!

With a good air gun,you can do it with 100 pd or less.If you know anybody in a repair shop, just ask them to loosen it up for you, tighten it by hand with a ratchet,go home and it's done. Some people use a breaker bar,put it on the ground and use the starter to loosen it up,done that many times myself years ago,but with no experience,I would not try it.Bruno.

Is this a nail head engine?? If so, that bolt requires 225-250 ft lbs torque. To loosen it, you can use a Johnson bar with correct size socket by placing the end on the floor and just touch the ignition key. BUT do remember to disconnect to coil so it won't accidentally start. This worked for me, and many others on their nailheads.

If it's a later engine, Bruno's advice ought to work just fine.

great news got the bolt loose with a breaker bar this mourning but there was no fat washer under the crank bolt. Should I replace the missing washer an torque her down to 225lbs or should I still pull the balancer an inspect the snout of the crank an the back of the balancer?
