Tied with another age group at 196 members, we ain`t all kids. The 68-72 cars are the ones that we drove to high school, being 10 year old cars at the time. Just returning to my childhood! Jim/Rott

I bought a 1970 GS because it was the year of my high school graduation. Could not afford one then however drooled over one in my hometown Buick dealership showroom. Forty-four years later could finally afford one. God Bless America!

The BUICK bug hit my family in 1973 when my grandmother wrecked her Pinto wagon and my dad and uncle went in together and bought her a 71 Buick GS 455 FROM Royal Buick on Dale Mabry in Tampa, FL. She drove it until 1986 and gave it to me.
It has been stolen once from my grandmother's driveway(they broke the ignition switch), Once from my Uncle's driveway(He left the key in the console), and once from me (I left the keyin the ignition) and each time we always managed to get it back in one piece! Each time it was just a joy ride!

I have owned 13 1970-72 Buick Skylark and GS cars and countless parts cars over the years but, I have always held on to grandmas GS. I still have it today. I still have the original 71 455 with 54,000 miles on it under my work bench.

I was 7 when my grandma got the Buick and I rode in the back seat. It still smells the same as it did 41 years ago! Grandma passed in 2001 but, Everytime I drive it, I think of her and if she had not made short trips to church and Publix Our GS may not be here today!

    Thanks Grandma!

She had rear ended in her pinto wagon and spent a week in the hospital. When she got out she told Dad she wanted a bigger car! She got one!

    June of 1958 for me.

I went with my Dad to Lytle Buick in Gastonia, NC. when he picked up his 67 white Skylark 4 door, the blue '68 Skylark Custom demo, he helped my oldest brother buy in 1969, and in 72 the 4 Door Skylark, blue with white vinal top. It takes little effort, but I can remember the smell of those new cars.

When my 2nd brother came home from Vietnam in 69 I remember going with them to 3 or 4 Chevrolet dealers. He eventually bought a 1969 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed in metallic Grey with a Black vinal top. I remember looking at a 1969 Camaro Z/28 Rally sport in Light Metallic Green, I remember that like it was yesterday.

I remember walking home from school in 1969 - 70 and seeing the Orange GTO Judge in the showroom floor in our little town in North Carolina. I knew what the Judge was, but at the time, I didn't really know what it would become.

I didn't then, but now I can look back as those being good days.

Jeez...this thread goes back to 2003 when I was still only 39. That was eons ago.
So now my Electra is coming up on 50 and I'm 52. The Wildcat is still a kitten at 49.

Amazing to see that a lot of people have come and gone through here; I read some posts from people who haven't been around in years.
