my two outside headlights come on like normal, but when i hit the switch for my brights, the right (left, if looking at the car head on) light goes out, leaving only the other three...obviously, since it works on my lowbeams, the bulb isn't burned out, so i'm assuming there's something finnicky in my wiring? (if so, where/what would it be, ya think?)
Check your grounds on the right headlight circuit. It may be grounding through the high beam, instead of the actual ground. When there is no longer a ground path on the highbeams (because you have them on) ....it has no ground path, and does not have a complete circuit.
David, There are 2 elements in the low beam headlights like an 1157 bulb, thats why there are 3 prongs on the back of the light. The highbeam element in your low beam is burned out, replace the headlight.
there are two elements? d'oh. i'd always assumed since it used the 2-to-4 setup that the bulbs were the same on both low and high beam.
David, There are 2 elements, 1 high, 1 low. Before you run out and get another headlight, I would wiggle the connector on the back of the light while they are on full highbeam, you might just have a bad connection, been there done that.
