Guys, Hi, long time! Off the wall one this - what is the weight of a built Nailhead head, springs, valves & all. I've asked Carmen to build me a set of heads and I'm coming to New York at the end of the month and plan to bring them back to the UK with me on the plane. The airline's max weight limit per item is 70lbs, absolutely no more. I think I'm very near the limit and will have to cargo them but can anyone tell me for sure how much each one weighs please. Many thanks indeed Nick Stratta
Nick how's 61 pounds. Fully dressed with valves, spring, reatainers, rocker arm and rocker bolts even with the little oil baffel. :TU:
Doug, Thanks - 12 minutes for a reply thats' absolutely awesome!!! Are you absolutely sure? They're being done by Carmen - the standard valve size heads. Now I'm not sure he's putting rockers arms on, just the valves in the new hardended seats, valves, springs, retainers etc. best regards nick
Yes. I weighed it two ways. Once holding it then subtracting my massive weight, inside joke for those who have seen me. Then the head by itself. This is on a bathroom scale so give or take a pound or two either way your good. 60 pounds is my final answer:laugh:
Doug, The ingenuity and lengths us people will go to to help each other out never ceases to amaze me. I have to say a big thank you to you for doing this. I guess all we now need is a picture of you on a set of bathroom scales holding a Nailhead head aloft in each hand !!! Once again thank you very much for your help. I'll ask Carmen to check packed weight so the box doesn't take it over the 70 lbs. best regards from the Buick Desert [England!] Nick Stratta
