Tyler I like it I will add info from Ricks thread at BPG tonight Gary Perfect Do you have anymore info on the starter? Cost manufacture part number.
Here is what I have so far. What do you think? I would like to thank Rick Martinez and Tyler Northcutt for help. Before I go any further I need to fig out how to post the chart so it stays as the number one item in its respective thread. Meaning no one wants to look at a bunch of pages to get to the table.
Looks great! You can also lose a few pounds by scraping the road grime from the bottom of the car. Won't be a whole lot, but every little bit helps.
Dave, this table thing is a GREAT idea! :beer ATTN MOD: Can we get this stickied? And have the table at the top of the thread like Dave was talking about? :TU: --C4
Thanks guys Hey if you have any other numbers send them to me. I need weights from heads, intake, lexan windows just to mention a few. Steve I like it.
i have some weights for you. a/c compressor...34lbs, lines and receiver drier...14lbs, condensor..10lbs, lower compressor bracket...6lbs. I haven't weighed the evaporator and case yet. these parts were out of my 71 skylark.
This is a great thread! One of the long-term goals for my car is to loose as much needless weight as possible without sacrificing anything. For example, when I have the car painted, I will be using fiberglass hood, fenders, and trucklid. Tubular A-arms is another good idea. I really want to get rid of that stock trans cross member. That thing is heavy! I'd like to replace it with a chrome-moly tublar crossmember with a driveshaft loop built in.
weight savings? I did not weight it before installing it, but I put in a Chevelle transmission crossmember that seemed to weigh less and connected to the frame more surcurely (sp). It was cheeper than making an after market one (E-bay item).
Stock cross member ,brackets and drive shaft loop...21# chrome moly cross member w/integral loop............. 6# Finishline makes the best one I've seen. Heres another 4 core radiator with water.......................................50# 2 core aluminum radiator with plastic tanks and water...24# gary
