I'm replacing the door weatherstripping on the 1970 wagon, and I want to make sure I have the profile in the correct direction. I got replacement weatherstripping from Cars - the fit appears to be good, but the seals are not marked left or right. Does anyone have a pic that clearly shows the correct profile? If I put it on one way, the top of the weatherstrip angles toward the car, the other way the top angles toward the door. Does that make sense?

FWIW, the original weatherstripping is so far gone that I can't tell what the profile should be.

    Thanks,
    Matt

I'm not familiar with the wagon, but my coupe ones only have the little mounting clips up front, then the lip on the weatherstrip tucks into the channel for the rest of the way

Thanks, Hunter. When you say "mounting clips" are you talking about the little plastic pins that are embedded in the weatherstripping and press into the holes on the door?

The rubber "points" toward the car.

I can't tell by looking - because I can't see it , but, it would seem that the lip of the weatherstrip would face away from the door and seal against the body and that lip makes the seal. If the lip faced into the door than there would be no material to create a seal against the mating surface. I would also think that the pins for attaching the rubber would only fit one way. If you can post a picture of the weatherstrip it would be easier to visualize. I guess you could put the left on the right backwards.

Thanks, Adam. That was my intuition, but glad to have it confirmed!

Yes, reversing the two front weatherstrips is what I was concerned about doing. I appreciate the response.

    Thanks,
    Matt
