    Howdy,

Well this happened this summer on Power Tour but I finally got my act together and got the pictures off the camera. This pump failed just outside of Peoria, IL. Check out the carnage.

I had a new (not rebuilt) NAPA water pump do that on mine after only about 1,500 miles. It marred my otherwise perfect timing cover.

May I also add that the "rebuilt" fan clutch I got from them only lasted 1,000 miles. That's what probably messed up the pump. :blast:

I got one 3 years ago where the impeller let loose and grinded the timingcover, got a new one and it cracked at the bearing after 2 mls

A just FYI. I send & have all my water pumps that are harder to find rebuilt by a guy named Tony. I have been dealing with him for many years & he knows his stuff. He has the capability to make parts that are no longer available. I have NEVER had a comeback with one of his pumps. Being in business this is important to myself, but most importantly my customers. His contact info:

    The Flying Dutchman
    200 Davis Creek Rd.
    Selma, Or. 97538
    Phone: 541-597-4057

On average the cost is $85.00 or so depending on what's needed. Maybe more $$$$ than some in the aftermarket, but how much is a replacement used or new timing cover. Then the hassles of installing such along with an accompanying timing chain & gears & the "while I'm at it's". How much is your piece of mind worth to you??? I gather up "Nail" pumps & when I have enough or am sending him another pump for a rebuild I send them also. Finding good cores is becoming more difficuly as time passes.

    hi tom.
thanks for the info:) . now i know based on all the above posts why i should not buy so much parts on ebay. who knows where they are coming from and if they will last more than 1000mls ... *being sceptical*.
tom, i will soon contact you again on the ordering of your magnificent roller rockers but please understand that i have currently more urgent private things going on (as mentioned in my signature). but life will go on ... in some way or another.

Well the pump has been replaced at some point since it is an AC car and thats only a 3 vane pump but I have no idea when, though it has to be between 3 and 43 years ago. Since the engine has other issues and is coming out, I'm not so worried about this one. I'll probably pickup a 5 blade one from Ted's Wildcat stash when I do rebuild the motor.

Rumoer has it that the 3 blade actually cools better b/c the coolant flows too fast with the 5 blade and goes through the radiator too fast.......I don't know if it would be better with the larger non-a/c wp pulley though. I have a 5 blade with the small pulley though and it's been OK so far.

Seems the problem is when a 5 blade A/C pump is put on a car that didn't come with A/C with the standard non A/C pulley that gives a problem.
Nimrod & others who are out there about the "Adjustable Roller Tip Rockers". Some kind of a deposit I will hold the "Rockers" for up to a year. This deposit could be a $150.00 or $500.00 whatever it is you can afford now. By the time a year is up I need to know what your intentions are. If you are truly not interested or in the market any longer I will send your original deposit $$$$ back. I don't think I can be any more fair than this. As of this moment I have about 12 sets left out of this 2nd. run of 50 sets. I would like to have more made & will continue to have more made as the interest & results others have are posted. On a stock engine or stock type rebuild, I know it seems hard to believe, but 40-50HP is a reality, no BS as others have stated.

You guys are scaring me, just installed a new water pump about a month ago. Got it from Cars inc. I didn't have to pay a core charge, so I'm assuming it is new. Have no idea of origin of manufacture. Do you guys deal with cars inc? Also Classic Buicks in Ca. states in their catalouge,"never put a rebuilt water pump in a nailhead" , I read this recently. Hopefully it doesn't crap out on me when I am attending a car show far from my house. Happy New Year everyone

George, I just bought one from Cars as well. I am under the impression that these are nos pumps. I have not put it on yet. I hope we are ok.

I just looked at the Cars inc. nos list and they have a water pump for $90.75........but I bought the one from the catalouge which is $78.25 , which one did you get? Also, was it an exchange item?
