I'm looking for a 67GS star wars air cleaner base.

((EDIT I found one but asked that the tips that I received be preserved in another section of the Board)))

So I figured I would post a sketch of some measurements of a base that would work for my carb and filter. The centre hole can be 5" and the outter "dome" can be around 9"- 9.25" at most in order for my K&N filter to fit. All other areas can be modified to suit 20180414_170617.jpg

I really need some help on this one guys my car is almost ready to go and the weather is getting really nice up here now and pretty much the only thing holding me back is not having a base!! I got the SW done, new beautiful hold down nut and a K&N filter.

The Parts Place has repro ones. They say need a mod to work but don 't mention what. Maybe contact them.

Maybe buy a complete set up then sell off the air cleaner itself ? Just a thought to get you on the road.

I thought of that but most people what mega $$ for a complete set. Plus I haven't seen a set for sale for awhile.

Any updates? I contacted the parts place and they told me they are no longer producing the bases.

I want to try to make a base from an aftermarket aircleaner.

I am looking at ordering this https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mrg-9791

    And this https://www.summitracing.com/parts/knn-01988

Maybe I can make something work. Everyone says this subject is beaten to death but the only posts I can find is a wanted ad and the suggestion to use a 67/68 Qjet air cleaner. The problem is even those are going for more than $100 now.

I have a couple of air cleaners, one is from a 1968 Wildcat and I have a complete Star Wars setup I am going to put on the 430 in my '68 'lark so I can do some "test fitting".

Let me take a look and see if the Wildcat air cleaner or one of the other bases will work and are close to your drawing and I'll let you know if I have something that will work.

If I do, just pay the shipping and it's yours.

Tonight I'm doing the candy toss to the little beggars, but I'll try and get to it tonight or tomorrow evening.

I ended up buying a complete star wars set from gsfred just to get the base. I already had the top and a repro nut. Shortly after another member contacted me with a base from a 67 HD big car. So I bought that and I'm currently modifying it to work since my set isn't a complete original and it's on a 69 riv with a 455. Once I get it done I can let you know how it works out and I'll have a complete original set for sale!

Please do let us know. I'm also searching for a base, or another option that works.

I bought an Edelbrock 1203 10" air filter assembly and it does fit my Q jet and clears the hood with the Star Wars top half. The only issue is it's just a tiny 10" x 2" air filter element that I would have to think is very restrictive. I haven't tried a taller filter yet, but even if it clears I think it's going to look awkward, raising the whole assembly too high.

    Here is what I have.

Stars Wars base on the left. Star Trek base on the right. Both are 5" Q-Jet size openings.

The red is the same diameter of both, so if you cut away the center of the one on the right, you will have the same diameter and almost identical height profile of a Star Wars base, left over.

If you cut outside that a bit, you could cut small triangle bits out around the circumference (leaving a "sawtooth pattern") and fold the remainder up and either tack weld, braze, or use aluminum tape like HVAC/Mechanical piping folks use, but I think it would be fine without it, not be seen, and the SW housing will set right in top of the base.
