I need to get the vinyl roof removed for some rust repairs on my '69 Skylark. So, I'll need new vinyl. Any recommendations? Legendary has some good reviews here. On the other hand I've always been happy with OPGI's service and warranty. Cheers! Chris
If I remembercorrectly the ones OPGI sell are from Legendary. I got a black one from OPGI for my 70 and it is great. OPGI only carries black and white.
OPGI does not make anything. As I recall Legendary had the correct grain for your top vinyl remade. Recently I saw they have are having a sale.
Here is the manufacturer.. and the catalog page for your car.. http://www.keeautotop.com/catalog/category/2050-1969-.html Kee auto top taylored vinyl is the best, by far. The seams are superior to every other top I have used. That includes all the "big names" who really are just re-sellers. Levant non padded is what your looking for, they come in black or white typically. You can get these thru Year One, or buy them direct, but YO was cheaper last time I got one, they were having a free shipping sale. I paid $200 for the top, to my door. Worth every penny, goes on great with the correct glue, looks perfect. JW
I bought ‘buckskin’ from Year One and it was a Kee top. Looked great but faded bad. I drove it a lot and did store it outdoors more than a little, but after five years it was almost white. Patrick
Vinyl Top Recomend SMS UPHOLSTRY I think they are in Portland Oregon. Not cheap but outstanding product Alain
A vinyl top? or a Convertible top? I was not aware that any vinyl top was available in any color, other than black or white, for some time now.. maybe that is why.. For convert tops, I have always favored Electron... JW
Jim, it was a vinyl top for my old ‘68 GS400 coupe, Burnished Saddle paint, Buckskin roof and bucket interior. Patrick
I like the look that Sean76 got from having truck bed liner sprayed on where the vinyl goes, looked great for a driver. In the pictures he posted the top was a high gloss black, looked really sharp! Maybe Sean can chime in? Now if in you're redoing a concourse car then a real top would be the way to go I guess. But either way, I would say perhaps some POR-15 or compatible rust stopper product for underneath whatever replacement technique you choose? GL
