    Evening everyone.

Have an appointment on April 16th to get the vinyl roof replaced. I did a small amount of digging & found a few small holes. They don't seem to hard or expensive to replace. I looked at the bottom trunk channel & seems good from the trunk side.

    My questions are:

What color would you guys go with? We'll be choosing between black & dark green. I wasn't feeling the dark green but it's really starting to grow on me:).

Is this a common color green vinyl? Haven't seen many of the Seamist cars with this color of vinyl.

    Thanks,

    Kyle

It seems to be the 'standard' green used back then, plus yours is the 'halo' version; I think it started in 1972 (Dunno).
Here's a supplier that has an almost unbeatable price, with a variety of colors. I haven't installed it yet, but it is DEFINITELY lower cost than most, and with a lot of color options. At least mine LOOKS almost the same as my scrap of original material...

Dark green vinyl tops were super common back in that era.

There is a big manufacturer in N Carolina that makes it and will custom make if they don’t. The name escapes me now.

I just went through this with a Seamist Green GS. The original top color was this Green Vinyl, I ended up changing it to White due to the White Buckets and am very pleased with the results. The metal under the vinyl was solid and did not need any repair, in fact I bought new trim clips as the installer said that they never come off in one piece and would not be re usable, well, they were and I now have the spares should you need them.

I thought about white, but the upkeep of keeping it nice & white seems like it may be a chore.

Plus my interior is dark green. 95% decided on the dark green top. I’ll figure that out today.

Ed, I can't say it enough, you went the right route with your car. The white top just pops. I'm also glad to hear there were no issues under the old vinyl top.

Originality is always best. Get a quote from Kee and SMS. My bet is Kee will be cheaper.

Also make sure you get Levant grain. That is what is correct.

Although I really like them with a white top, and black second on a green car generally, with your green interior I'd probably keep it original and go with dark green.

You should get hopping on fixing that rust before your appt. Remove the window trim and I'd bet you'll find more than you think. Strongly advise not putting the new top over the rust.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. I got a tad bit aggressive & started ripping & tearing myself:D:D!

Talked to my guy today & it will be a Levant grain in dark green. Overall roof looks pretty damn decent for an almost 50 year old car.

Sure seems to me that the gold color is not actually rust(other than the holes) but an adhesive for the original top.

He said he is going green? White is a bitch. Prepare to spend half your life with a scrub brush in your hands with any white top.

I'd go with the color that matches the interior the most!

    It's to much colors otherwise
