My intake is leaking oil out the back side easy fix no biggie.

Question I got is the motor is a mystery to me.

How can you tell if a stock style valley pan or AMP is installed?
With the ad of a mirror on the back side it looks like thin steel under the intake ( Edelbrock ) Black silicon between the steel???? and block.. Front side I cant the thin steel.. Pulled the PVC poked a probe in about 5'' down I can hear the tin. Stock or AMP is the whats your you guess..

With the performer intake I thought you cant use the stock type valley pan But IDK for sure..

400 block. 1109 heads Performer intake.. What is the preferred.
Like to have the parts before I start the fix

You can use a stock pan/intake gasket with a Performer/B4B. People like a composite intake gasket for sealing with the aluminum which would require the a pan like the AMP, but thats not entirely necessary. Best way to know whats in there is see if you can tell what kind of intake gaskets you've got. If they're composite, then you'd hope there's a vally pan in there. Dont be dissapointed if it' cut from a regular old gasket.....

Am&p valley pan is aluminum. With the PC removed, try a magnet on it to see if it sticks. It shouldn't stick. It's that easy.

Sounds to me like an AM&P pan from seeing the thin metal sandwiched at front and back. Stock (if installed properly) has a rubber seal for front and back of manifold.

    What is the preferred route?
Reuse The Modified one thats in there now?
Or order the AMP and wait by the mail box?

    It's not a daily driver.

Off topic question is USPS affected by this GOVT shut down that I just now heard about.

Might be a longer wait at the mail box..

USPS is not affected by the Government shut down. They receive no money from the Government. They are 100% funded by their sales and services.

this is probable the easiest way to get ahold on one through mike.

I can leave his email too if you would rather email him and wait for a reply. I have phone number, but he relies to emails much faster than phone.

theses work nice, just have the be careful next time intake comes off to not bend it when removing it to clean........must use newer composite style gaskets as well and rtv for the end seals

Where did you get that information? The Edelbrock works with the stock type intake gasket.

Although I run a Mike Phillips setup on my current engine with TA SP1 intake I really don't see an advantage to it compared to the stock bathtub type as far as keeping oil off the intake and out of the PCV. If you are running composite intake gaskets at the head(which is what I'm doing) you would need to fabricate a tub for under the intake which is what Mike's pan does nicely. As Ben said hopefully you ordered some composite intake gaskets. As mentioned you have to use RTV for the end gaskets and I even do that with the stock intake gasket. Last point is the stock type gasket is easily reusable as long as it is not bent up when removing. Clean it off real good and I use RTV around the water passages and Permatex High-Tack around the ports.

I thought I read that on here this site somewhere that a stock type and edelbrock don't work.. Thats why I said IDK for sure..

I''ll get the composite gaskets from Mike he messaged me he sells them also..

I remember the end tricks on the manifolds from years ago..
I couldn't remember if you could use the stock type gasket again.. Now I know... Cool...
