If it turned slow enough it should be ok.

I was 13 and I'm now 61. The kit is long gone.

(I wonder what happened to the last 48 years?):Do No:

Jason, that pipe is not lit.

Anybody ever build the visible Man or Woman? You could even build the woman pregnant, and they even provided a baby!!

So, you could build a Visible Chassis with a Visible V-8 and a Visible Man with a Visible Woman and a Visible unborn child. :Do No:

You forgot the visible horse when the visible v8 throws a plastic rod through the clear bock.

I was thinking about getting one of these see threw engine kits for my 10 year old boy for his birthday. He is always asking questions about how this or that works on the engine. What do you guys think, is this a good learning tool or is it just another model?

I (still  ) didnt get mine in the mail and i ordered it last monday... I do think, however, without having built it yet, that it would be a great learning experience. My brother actually built one with my dad when he wasl like 8. The kit is over 300 pieces! So that should tell you its pretty detailed. And everything moves, down to the valves.

It's absolutely a great learning tool! :Smarty:
    I was 10 or 11 when I built mine.

I have an adjustable DC power supply. It goes from 0-30 volts DC. It would be interesting to do a few "pulls" with the visible V-8. Keep increasing the rpm/ volts on each successive pull.

Maybe even do a high RPM durability test. Run it at high RPM till it fails! Then do a teardown to see what broke.

Do you guys think it would make it to 30 volts?

I think that would be a fun experiment... If you had an extra 50 bucks and a few hours of time to build a separate visible v8 just to destroy.

Does anyone know what type of lubrication to use on this engine?

    Thanks

I think vaseline is what I used.
It may have come with something similar.

The model didnt come with any sort of lubricant.

I thought of vaseline since i saw it posted earlier, but the only thing i was wondering is how does it work with the plastic parts? Since vaseline is petroleum based does it react weird to the plastic pieces?

I ask this because when i was into rubik's cubes, i know you werent supposed to lube them with vaseline because it would break down the insides of the cube. How well did it work for you?

    Thanks,
    Jason

vaseline sounds a bitto sticky or goopy, crap would get in it easy and be a mess to clean.

use WD-40 just fish oil, bio friendly for all uses.
A secret tip for fishing, just spray on the lure or worm.
Don't use it on your chineese food.

If you read the instructions, it says to use vegetable oil:Smarty:

That makes sense, as any petroleum-based product or solvent (including petroleum jelly and WD-40) may have an adverse effect on the plastic.

Where in the world did this WD-40 = "fish oil" idea come from? Its MSDS says it's made up of aliphatic hydrocarbons, petroleum base oil and CO2 as a propellant. The only thing it has in common with sea life is the offshore oil rig sitting in the middle of it.
