I bought some parts from a company in Vegas and had them shipped to Seattle.
Company uses us postal 2 day priority mail standard as its small stuff.

Between having no idea where it was even though it had a tracking number it shows up today 8 days later.
Hate to see if it wasn't 2 day priority

All package carriers make errors. We have had the best service from USPS--especially across country. We feel their 2 day priority service to be a deal. When going overseas we find DHL is best.

I use USPS, and with the exception of a couple of packages that bounced around in the system I have been satisfied. They are very convenient and prices are not bad. It's a quasi govt entity, which makes it likely to not be run well.

Its hard to beat the USPS Flat Rate Boxes. And I've had 100% positive results with them . I sent one on a Saturday from Philadelphia to ND and it arrived Monday. When I ship its usually : USPS first , Fed-Ex second and then UPS . Jim might be right about DHL when shipping overseas but anytime DHL was used to ship something to me , When the package started here in the states . DHL Sucked .

Antifa probably was blocking their trucks . Since they don't " guarantee" two day there is no refund. And you're right tracking dosen't show up until AFTER the package is delivered...

I ship a lot of things through the post office. For the most part they are good. Recently they have not been scanning my packages when they pick them up off my porch. I did have one package over the summer that got lost. I filed about it twice through the post office and never got a response.

All the package carriers are very busy with all the online purchases so there is bound to be some mistakes by all the companies.

I have had alot of issues with packages getting stuck inside the machine or worst yet ripped open by the machines. it happens so much they even have rubber stamps explaining what happened and new envelopes they put what's left of the original in and finish sending it.

when I ordered my printed mirror gaskets recently through a board member the small envelope it was sent in looks like a pack of wild dogs thought bones were inside, thankfully no damage to what was inside.

now I'm sure it impossible to not have issues, but to have it happen so much they have stampers and specially envelopes is kind of scary.

if its important I send it FedEx, if not hard to beat the price of usps

STAGE III Lost Experimental 455-4 Bolt Main Block.

    I am swearing off UPS!
    This year only they:
    1. They crushed a Star Wars air cleaner that was VERY WELL packed.
    2. Threw (I heard it hit the concrete & got to the door to see driver running to his truck like he was on fire) my powder coated B4B denting the corner in and chipping off the paint.
    3. TOTALLY lost my T/A light weight flywheel & clutch, and gave a great seller a complete run around on his refund.
    4. Also lost my C113 cam I had bought
    5. Delivered multiple items that SOMEHOW were not damaged (dumb luck!) that looked like they were spit out from under a lawn mower.
    6. Of course countless packages that went over insane routes with long stays at areas it must have taken a vacation at.

    Just mind numbing incompetence.

I am now asking sellers if they can ship via USPS or Fed Ex before deciding to purchase.

I wont ship ups either, have watched the drivers also throw the packages through my window as I was putting my shoes on to come out and meet them, have the video somewhere from my security cam if I can find it again, but you bet I called it in and sent it to ups

Must depend on the area. With few exceptions I receive good service from both UPS and USPS. FedX is hit and miss but I usually get my stuff eventually.

I've seen sellers receive my order and almost immediately I get a shipping tracking number. There are times the shipping company doesn't get the package for days. Not always the shipper causing the delay, even though a shipping label was created.
I've also seen tracking information where FedEx allows a package sit at the Indianapolis hub for 3-4 days before it leaves for delivery. It's like they wait until there is another package in my rural area before they will come out for delivery.

X3. I've had really good luck with all the carriers.....but, seeing all the threads on here to the contrary, I guess I consider myself lucky now.

They're all good until they're not. And once you have a problem, that's where the rubber meets the road. How easy is it to get satisfaction? USPS lost an overnight envelope on me and it took 4 months to get the $900 in Postal money orders reimbursed to me that were in it. Freaking nightmare. And the Postal service just loves making you fill out forms. Forms, forms and more forms. They're 25 years behind the times with all the paper

I think it depends a lot on the employees and not necessarily on the corporations.

At my old house the UPS driver would put any small to medium size packages in the BBQ grill by the garage and leave a note on the side door where it was hard to see and not anything on the front porch/door.

Where I live now the UPS driver sucks. About 2 months ago ordered some parts from a national company and a few days later I heard the load vroom and screech of the UPS truck out front. While I was coming down the stairs I heard a loud "thunk" and went to the front window. The driver would walk 1/2 way up the driveway and toss the packages toward my garage walk through door. By the time I had got to the door and started yelling "HEY, HEY, STOP!" he was stepping into his truck and vroom, he was gone. Looked at the packages and one was a front brake caliper (that was the thunk) and the whole corner of the box was caved in. Called the parts place and talked to customer service. The nice guy said "it looks like the parts were delivered, ahhh, about a minute ago. I said yes and told him what had happened and I was opening a claim for damage without even looking at the part. He said that was fine, gave me a claim number if I did find damage, and was notating a complaint against UPS in their system. Only a scuff mark on the calliper so didn't need to finish the damage complaint.

During November and December I try not to order ANY car parts to be shipped as all the carriers are overrun with packages and customer service from the drivers goes down another notch.

I agree with Jim Lore. Until you have dealt with postal services in other countries, you don't know how good we have it. The percentage of lost and damaged packages is infantesimal. The volume of packages shipped make it inevitable that a few will be lost or damaged. The USPS delivers over 493 million individual pieces of mail each day.
If the post office damaged one one one-hundredth of one percent of it's deliveries, that would be 4,930 damaged pieces of mail per day.
