You look alright Stacy, you have that intense glare of a dent master! And...no glasses...my guy said you had to have good eyesight, contacts? There's a video of you on youtube Jason took, too. But he photo shopped your head.
I caught someone putting a door ding in my truck one time, getting ready to just pull away, so I ran up and kicked their door in. Hey a**hole, what's your problem? My problem? I don't have a problem, I just assumed you liked vehicles with dents in the doors, so I returned the favor, and gave you one back!
Still no seats.... So while I'm waiting, I thought I'd tackle an easy job and address the crappy radiator top plate. I felt bad refinishing the old plate and removing the 50 year old emissions decal the line worker put on crooked Years ago, I had picked up a replacement top plate. I finally blew the dust off it and painted it last week. Funny, the original one was stamped the 11th week. The one I dug out of the basement is stamped the 12th week. What luck! Anyway, here's the old one- Date code- And the newly refinished plate and date code- Unfortunately, once I put the new one on, the rest of the core support looked even worse! So I had to at least refinish the top to make it look better. So here is the results of my efforts this weekend- I put on one of Dave johnsons correct repro emissions decals. I also wire wheeled all the associated bolts with flat black to mimic the original black phosphate. Naturally, the original hood bumpers and hood bumper nuts now look horrible. So I ordered a set from CARS along with a new battery tray, which unbolted from the car with ease....gotta love western cars!!
That radiator cap, ugghhhh......I may have an older , non-original but period correct laying around if you need one
LOL....I know.... I'll have to go pick up a new one at Auto Zone. I have 2 NOS ones in the basement, but I like the ones with the lever on them. Thats the problem, you refinish something and everything next to it looks like crap afterwards
We are drawing a line in the sand here... Next thing you know, the car in in a million pieces and 5 years go by!
The air cleaner on this car really looked like excrement. Someone spray canned something all over it. I really didn't want to paint it and make it look essentially new. I decided on a fluke to try wiping it down with acetone on a small spot to see if whatever they sprayed on would come off. Turns out it worked out great. It removed the spray can crap and didn't affect the original gloss black. I took this pic after I did the top. I wound up doing the whole thing today.
It always blows my mind when I see people saying that satin black was correct for these air cleaners.
And I finally got the seats back today. I probably won't be able to sit down for a coupke days but they came out good. What a difference. I feel like I'm sitting 4-6" higher
I really have to get used to it. My head is almost touching the headliner. It went from one extreme to the other now!
