So I was in the process of rebuilding my Carter WCFB and I slipped and dropped the rear float. It slipped from my fingers and landed on the dining room hardwood floor. This blunder created a small dent in the top of the float. I have not ran the engine it is planned to go on, should I try to find a replacement float or see if it still works?

A very small dent should not be a problem. To test: Submerge float in hot water, heat will cause air in float to expand if there is a leak it will show with bubbles.

Thanks all! I had already submerged it and saw no bubbles. I even put a weight on it and let it set over night. No water inside...
The true test will come if and when I ever get around to firing up the old nail.
