Does anyone have underhood pictures of a 68 or 69 riviera. I'm looking to bring mine back to at least looking nice. The idiot that owned the car before me decided that black krylon on EVERYTHING would look real nice. It doesn't. Now that it's half flaking off, it looks horrible.

If you have underhood pix of a fairly clean 68-69 riv, just so I can get an idea what it's supposed to look like, I would appreciate seeing them.

    Thanks,
    Brett Schmahl

    Hey Brett,

I've had every nut and bolt off the Riv from the firewall forward. Let me know if there's any schematics you need. Here's an online link to the underhood schematics... http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jholthenrichs/weightsn.htm#Wiring Diagrams but until Comcast gets their act together this link won't work. Use these: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jholthenrichs/riv_wiring1.jpg and http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jholthenrichs/riv_wiring21.jpg

I had the hinges and AC bracket powdercoated. The Mar-Hyde gloss black spray bomb is absolutely perfect for underhood details. Available at Auto Body supply houses.

    Jeff,

Thanks for the wiring diagrams. They will come in handy.
Your riv is a very nice looking car. Hopefully someday I can get mine back to that condition.

Would you happen to have any more pix of the underhood area of your car? I went to your website (great site by the way), and I checked out the pix, very helpful. Do you have any of the actual bottom side of the hood? The last owner of my car was such an idiot:confused: . removed all the underhood insulation, and krylon blacked everything. Right over all the engine grime. Over the brake booster, inner fenders, radiator, everything. Major Hack.

I suppose though, that's why I got the car for as cheap as I did.

Bye the way, did you happen to see my other posting about the differential, I'm just guessing, but you probably have info on that to.

I can take pics for you. I removed the center piece of insulation (it hit my aircleaner and left dust/debris on it every time I opened/closed the hood due to it's age and condition). I saved it to make a template for new stuff sometime down the road.

Let me know exactly what areas you want pics of and I'll shoot some digitals and send them to you. Be specific and don't be shy. I can convert and email one pic as easily as I can 10 or 20. I sanded my brake booster because it was pretty rusty (one of the very few parts that even showed rust). Someday I'll have JW re-plate it and rebuild it. But the rest of the underhood is pretty much factory (except for the plastic wire loom I use to clean things up).

Use the Mar-Hyde gloss black. It is the best I have found. Bar none.

Someday Comcast will get their act together and I'll upload all the corrections I've made to the links on my pages, and added some new stuff too.

See my response to your rearend post.

I don't claim to be an expert or know-it-all about the 68/69/70 Rivs, but I HAVE rebuilt this entire car (many areas twice!:Dou: ), so I am intimately familiar with all the ups and downs, and mistakes you can make. Believe me, EVERY mechanical area of my Riv had an a$$hole work on it the first time, so the second time I hunted and actually found a real professional to redo the work (engine, trans, driveshaft and rear). MAN it gets expensive.

Let me know if I can help with anything else! jeff_holthenrichs@cisgi.com

    Same with mine!:af:
High gloss on the fenderwells and radiator support. With plenty of runs to boot.
Geez, They do sell semi - gloss and satin finish paint.
    Morons. :moonu:

    FYI...

The Mar-Hyde gloss black isn't all that glossy, more of a satin. It really has an OEM look to it.

Black lacquer cut 2:1 with thinner has a nice OEM sheen to it also.
