68 Riviera. The chrome or stainless under the stripping. It also is the drip rail. Under that is a gooey sort of dipped felt? What can I replace this with. Whats it called. I removed mine, and accidently threw it away.

Post some pics showing the stainless pieces you're referring to.

It’s the roof rail weatherstripping retainer...has a stainless reveal that runs just below the drip rail. I’m curious as to a replacement as well.

Those would compress too much. I have that kind of stuff for insulating txv valves. The cork type might be closer .

So I tried butyl tape under the weatherstrip rail on the 70-72's GS coupe. Unfortunately, these rails have slots to adjust the rails in and out to help adjust the glass against the weatherstrip to keep water out. With the butyl, the rails wouldn't move and I couldn't do any adjustments. Therefore, I got some of this foam tape stuff, which worked a lot better. Don't know if it is the same on the 68 Riviera

In the Riv its the thickness of it. It was about 5/16. Foam would colasp too much. Maby an oil pan rail gasget the straight side lathered up with form a gasget sealer.

It reminded me of a leather belt dipped in resin. Or that shim stuff that comes in a roll that window framers or framers use

I found windshield adhesive that comes in a roll that seems ok. Im not feeling 100% about it though.
