A few people have been asking about 2004R performance transmissions recently so I am posting some info about the trans for my car... I have swapped a few trans in and out of this car from a built th350, th400, to the 2004R... I also have a fully built 4L80E for in case it’s needed. I tend to stockpile spare trans cores, not too many BOP cores around it seems these days...

Here is the info on the trans going into the car again this spring:

CK Performance built me this nice trans. It was $3800 plus a $950 converter.

2004R FULL BILLET PRO STREET/STRIP TRANSMISSION
    24RT/FBPSS
The 2004R PRO STREET/STRIP TRANSMISSION is recommended for ultra high performance street and strip cars producing producing up to 550 hp and 500 lbs ft. and weighing up to 4000 lbs. It can also be used in lighter vehicles at power levels up to 800 hp and 800lbs.ft. in some applications.Perfect for low 11 to mid 9 second Turbo Buicks,as well as all small and big block Buick,Cadillac,Chevrolet,Oldsmobile and Pontiac vehicles. All of our 2004R transmissions are dynomometer tested and then in car tested and calibrated prior to shipment.

ROLLERIZED FORWARD DRUM.Over time the factory metal thrust washers wear and as a result increase operating clearances and send debris through the transmission. All metal thrust washers in the transmission are replaced with high capacity low drag needle bearing assemblies. This is a time consuming process but definately beneficial for a performance transmission build.Internal components are machined in a lathe to create pockets for the bearings to locate in,as well as generate proper clearances. These bearings also reduce internal friction. This results in lower thrust surface operating temperature, and reduced horsepower loss. CALIBRATION UPGRADES EXCLUSIVE CK PERFORMANCE SEPERATOR PLATE DIRECT CLUTCH CORRECTION PACKAGE RECALIBRATED VALVE BODY AND GOVERNOR Over 20 years of research and development have resulted in the ultimate combination of performance and component durability. The main problem with this transmission at high power levels is the direct clutch. Our custom seperator plate removes flow restrictions that cause 2/3 upshift delay and friction element slip. Our revolutionary "3/2 Control Valve Delete" removes the infinitely variable orificing of 3rd accumulator oil to the servo release from the hydraulic system, and uses a single orifice. This is the real correction for direct clutch failure.Custom automatic shift valve body and governor combinations can give you the wide open throttle upshifts your vehicle needs.Calibrations can be made to allow wide open throttle shift points anywhere between 5000 and 6500 rpm's,without shift timing complaints at light or part throttle.

Cool, can hardly wait....which Roller cam did you go with for this turbo eng?

All those V6 turbo boys run rollers. I bought your 110 lsa, 290/298 from Jim for my spare # match eng.
BTW, you have a spare SP3 you want to sell? I know you like those sheet metal style single planes for your builds.

I do no not currently plan to run a roller cam, it’s a custom flat tappet from Scotty Brown. With such mild lift and duration there is very little advantage to a roller for my use. For NA yes forsure it is a definitive advantage. I am not ruling it out though, if I convert to E-85 and raise the compression a roller cam would be done for sure. We made the crank counterweights a little smaller to clear any cam later on if needed. I would not do a custom roller cam until I had head flow numbers at very least but preferably some dyno and track data on the combo.

No I don’t have any spare SP-3 intakes I plan to use one on the alum headed engine. As much as I like the sheet metal intakes the TA intake may have a slight advantage. I may test this on the dyno.

The new house for the Buick’s is coming along... of course they screwed up and put the natural gas line EXACTLY where the 2 post lift is going... that will be fixed. 24 feet deep on the short end and 42 feet deep on the 3rd bay... lowest part of the ceiling is 11 foot.

Sean, it looks like you have a shy helper in your garage. :)
Train him up right and when he’s older he won’t stray over to the dark side.
Keep em in a Tri Shield!

I decided on this 4 post lift good for 9000 pounds:

New house is almost done, will be plenty of room to work around the 4 post lift. Still keeping the other house and renting it out.

Worn out 295s for chassis dyno use 295/50-15 on 15x8 rims and 235/60-15 on 15x8 rims for my 75 Regal.

    Sean,

I picked up an Atlas 8k 4 post last year. Havent had it long obviously, but so far no complaints at all, I'm very happy with it.

For some reason I envisioned a Buick bumper.

Yes the basement mantle likely will be lol!

While waiting for the alum 350 heads I cane across these heavily modified 350 heads. The previous owner spent thousands on them and then passed away before he could use them. They created a closed chamber head with a quench zone and they are now 30 cc instead of 58 cc. Heavily ported and oversized valves. It came with the biggest solid roller cam I’ve ever seen for a Buick 350!

I may just order some custom pistons and shoot for 13:1 compression. Could be interesting.

I do have a big pole barn at my other house. And a 28x22 garage with attached workshop.

New home for the Buick’s is finally done, pick up the 9000 pound lift next week. 42 foot deep 3rd bay, floor drains, 3 sets of 220V, built in pressure washer, insulated, heated, 16 lights...
