Does anyone male an adaptor to fit the Buick Quadrajet that has the right geometry for the TV cable and a 200r4? What has anyone else done to solve this situation? Thanks, John

Phil It really *is* a 350...

    Shouldn't this work?

I've got my 72 in the garage and my 2004r sitting on the side ready to go in. This is the part I had on my list.

Try Bow Tie Overdrives. They have a "tv made easy" kit for all the various old carbs. Not sure if you can get individual parts seprately but, worth a try.

Talk to Ken at Everyday Performance (Techg8 here on the message board), he can either make a bracket to work or swap out the throttle shaft with one that already has the correct geometry bracket from the factory.

X2. No reason to fool with aftermarket parts when Ken can set you up with the good stuff.

Summit Racing has the proper Qjet TCI cable bracket (same as OEM) which hold the throttle and TV cable and the proper linkage adapters for the proper geometry.

TV Made EZ wants you to get their cable, but they also want you to drop the pan and change to their valve. To hell with all of that. Just get a bracket. That's what I did.

Try to find a local boneyard that has a late 80's Buick, Olds, or Caddy with overdrive and snag the baseplate from the carb and the throttle/TV cable bracket at the back.

Ken can tell you if the throttle shaft you get will transfer to your original baseplate, or you can cut the bottom (TV portion) of the bracket and weld it to yours (see attached). I sent the attached mock-up to Ken and he welded it up when he rebuilt my carb.

I kid you not, I have had it for a month and have not opened the box yet - very busy at work! Otherwise, I'd show the finished product.

Thanks. Ponch what part number did you order from Bowtie. They told me it may be a special. I am also looking into the boneyard route as ubushaus sugested

Bowtie says it will be a special and they want $275 and for me to send them my carb. Guess I will be going a different route

Or simply get a TH 350 gas pedal and an aftermarket cable.

take the plug out of the hole that is already there in the firewall.

Hook the cable to the kickdown tab on the 350 gas pedal and adjust.

It works, I have done it a couple times now. No need to go near the carb.

For a 200-4r? Wouldn't the geometry be incorrect?

I have had excellent luck with it in the past. No erratic shifting issues or trans wear issues, and the cars have been 400+ HP Big blocks.

I did not do a line pressure vs throttle opening study, if that's what your asking.. There seemed to be no need for that.

The first application was a GS 400, and the later Q-jet throttle linkage would not work, we tried that, not enough manifold clearance on the stock iron intake.

There was no aftermarket support that would work, at least not without serious modification. Not with this carb and intake.

So we thought outside the box a bit, and came up with a different way to pull the cable, and it worked great in that car. I do believe I did monitor line pressure when we first put it together, and found it to be acceptable. I don't recall the specifics. We simply adjusted the cable so that it had the TV valve fully depressed at WOT. All TV related functions seemed to work fine.

Feel free to throw on the lab coat and break out the gauges. I think you will find that pressures are well within the acceptable range.

I bought a Wooden Spacer for my Carb. I had a problem with the bottom lever clearance too. I just ran it through my Planer until I got the right height. It was too tall at First so I kept running it through till I got it right. It was made by Edelbrock. I don't see them advertised anymore tho. Four Hole Spreadbore. You might have to look it up.

Hey you are the professional! This being the case I think we all should really look into this and to be on the safe side definitely get some pressure readings (although no manufacturer or builder states what pressures should be at various throttle positions)

Running TV through the gas pedal would save much of the hassle associated with a 200-4r swap such as requiring a 1" spacer, changing throttle shafts and having to plug the open space in the firewall on th350 cars.

I didn't mean to sound skeptical at first, its just crazy everyone else isn't doing it this way

Jacob..didn't mean to sound like a smart-ass... sorry.. just my sense of humor.

The reality is that the 200-4R TV adjustment is really not that sensitive. As long as at WOT your at or near having the TV plunger fully depressed, then you have no real worry about smoking the trans.

Never a bad idea to double check your work with pressure settings, regardless of what TV cable setup you use.

And yeah, I have no idea why folks want to work so hard at this... Get an aftermarket cable with a round end on it, it goes thru the hole in the firewall and secures with a nut, and then simply route it thru the hole on the TH 350 pedal that was originally used for the kick-down.

I should sell a kit... add that to the list of products to develop..

This is just replicating what newer cars did on older cars. My car has the spacer, it screws up my breather. I have the modified shaft, costs a lot to get welded up. I have the TCI throttle/TV cable bracket. The bracket requires the spacer because it hits the bosses on the intake. I bought a Performer and ground off the bosses to see if I can remove the spacer and get my under hood back under control.

I could have avoided all of that with just a Turbo 350 gas pedal? I've got one now and am going to examine it once I have swapped motors.

Anyone else done this, I'd like to know your long term experience.

You didn't sound like a smart-ass to me, I am just a backyard mechanic, so everything I attempt or learn comes from guys like you who do it for a living. I'd take your word for something much faster than some Chevy guy who thinks you can put an Oldsmobile intake on a Buick.

Hey if you make a kit you would have quite a list of buyers. It would extremely simplify the 200-4r installation.
