Are any of you turbo guys using restrictors to limit oil flow to the turbo? Best I can tell a T04B doesn't like oil pressure over 70psi.

Just use a -4an line, the small line will be a restriction itself

There is a -4 braided line on one turbo, and a 1/4" hard line on the other (hey, whatever works! ) The oil pressure should be higher this time around, maybe even over 100psi. I don't want to deal with pooped out turbo seals, or burned up turbo bearings due to lack of oil, either.

Mark Burton knows all about the restrictors, I know he had issues with too much oil going to the turbos and he solved it using the restrictors.

So you've got the Wagon running again?

Not yet, but I need to get moving! I need to modify/buy an oil pan, get the TH400 rebuilt, and double check a few things on the engine and get it together.

The best I can tell about the restrictors is to use a .063 hole. Autometer has fuel gauge "spike" restrictors that are 1/8" pipe on one end and -4 AN on the other. I can get two of those and drill them out.

.063 restrictors are common on Honda application using ball bearing turbos. It might be too small for a journal bearing turbo. I was told .110" by a turbo manufacturer as the smallest orifice to run on the oil feed, for fluid bearing turbos. I used 3/16 brakeline and flare fittings. The hole in the flare fitting is all the restrictor you should need.

Thanks for the info! What oil pressure and weight oil were you running?

I'll be running 0w-30 for the stock bolt-on motor then bump up to 5w-40 for the built engine ..amsoil at my dealer cost

20w blend, 60-70psi max. My engine is tired though.
