I want to say thanks for help with the fuel pump. I talked to rob and he said i should be seing one in a little over two weeks. i also bought his sending unit with 1/2 pickup line and a 8an fitting. I have not seen the product yet but he is a very nice guy and very professional. I will keep you updated and be posting some current pictures soon.

    Paul,
Very VERY cool project. Thanks for sharing a little information. How much boost do you plan to use? How much HP are you expecting? A Nail seems like an engine that could really benefit from a turbo- good bottom end, but restricted head flow. We still need to see some pictures!

My issue with injection is partly the looks. DONT get me wrong. I've been trying to fathom an affordable injection. But because of the port design, the only way to NOT look like injection is TBI. Not that it's a bad system But I would prefer to have tunability on each cylinder like I can with an EFI system. I havent used the megasquirt but heard good stuff from the DIY guys. I have used the FAST systems (made a BAD 400 PONTIAC!!!) and it is nice. The motorvation stuff is good too. They seem to be custom and cater to the hot rod crowd.

    Paul. that's a great project!:TU:
Where exactly are the turbos mounted?

The Edelbrock and EELCO dual quad manifolds are easier to adapt for a port fuel injection setup. The runners are the same height as they enter the head, so a fuel rail can be mounted there.
For an even better injector location, mill the intake flange off of the heads so the injectors can be even closer to the intake valve.:Brow:

Paul great question on the fuel pump. It was something that was on the back of my mind a well. I am building a Henry J and am considering a lightly boosted nailhead 401. I've got the nail and a quadrajet setup already to go though. But was planning ahead. I'm in Westfield, MA, what town are you in? Good luck with the setup. Burn some rubber!! Don :3gears:

hey don, i am in New bedford Mass, i mostly spend wends and thurs at the garage at night. you are always welcome to stop bye. always have a fridge full of beer. i havent touched the buick in a few weeks, waiting for the fuel pump, some lines and a flange for my turbo. so while that one is down i am doing a 1950 internalional pickup rat rod. We are doing it as a school project for my sophmores. Its sporting a 355 small block and a small turbo 2 speed powerglide and a s10 chassis. The best part is they only get $1500 to do it. i wanted to put a 401 in it, but the 355 was given to us. Hopefully within the month i will be driving and doing some tuning. Feel free anytime to come on down!!
