    Hi,

I have seen pictures where there is a trim piece for the trunk and the ends of the quarter panels on a 70 GS. Am I seeing this correctly? If so does anyone repor them?

    Thanks.

Thanks, I found them. Was it only an optionot though? I do not see any trim holes so maybe my car didn't come with it? I had my car checked out by Duane but maybe this is not something that shows up?

    It was an option.

It was optional. My silver car has it,and I wish it didn’t. I don’t need all that flashy stuff.

Fred, any idea what the option code would be for 1970 GS ?

W2. That was for peak and rear body mldgs (except convertibles...they have different topline on rear qtrs...peak mldg won't fit.)

Thank's for the information. I own a 70 stage 1 with the original window sticker, it has no option code for the peak or rear moldings put has the trunk moldings I have owned an seen a lot of skylark/GS with just the trunk molding is there a option code just for that?

Not on GS Wholesale Order Form. Can't speak to Skylark or SCO. Easy enough to retrofit, either new or later..and if replacing decklid with one with mldg, easier to add extensions than fill deck lid holes.

I collected a rust-free trunk lid and matching end caps that do not have holes. No welding, plugging,or filling.

It depends on what type of '70 GS you have.
    • The rear body moldings were optional on the GS350. (option W2"Custom Upper Peak Moldings & Rear Body Moldings.")
    • The rear body moldings were standard on the GS455 HT & convertible.
If you take a look at the order form there is not a separate option for the rear body moldings on the GS455 cars because it was standard. Just like the deluxe steering wheel was standard on the big block but was an option on the small block GS (only small block cars came with the Batwing steering wheels in '70).

The vender for TPP only sends 5 clips instead of 6

Every original 1970 GS455 I've seen had the trunk molding. I always thought it was a GS350 vs GS455 thing. The peak mldgs are different.

Correct - In '70, Std. on GS455 exc. GSX (and I believe std. on one of the the Skylark models) & opt. on GS350

Your car looks like it is indeed a very nice survivor. I like those two personalized license plates.

Question: is that '70 GS white with a brown top? I wasn't sure from the pictures. A good friend of mine has a white/brown '70 and we were commenting that it's pretty unusual to see that combination these days.

Well your cars are the same combination, '70 GS, white paint, brown top, brown bucket seats. My friend even has some vintage gauges mounted under his dash in the center. Very cool.

    Nice GS...

As Gary said, mine is almost a twin, but is a non-AC, Stage 1.

Happy to know there's another survivor in that combo.
