It's regular vacuum hose. Take it with you to the auto parts store, and match it up. Buy a foot of it, that will be plenty. You won't need a clamp with fresh hose.

I didn't bother reading the other replies since I'm on my mobile device and it's a bit difficult to review everything but have you done a recent transmission fluid change? You might just have crud in your filter. If you have an automatic transmission just get any Dexron III (3) transmission fluid I usually get the 'Max Life' brand since it's more for older cars. Once you've done that you shouldn't be having any issues with the shifting. (That also means replacing the filter/gasket and getting the transmission pan as clean as possible; throw in a magnetic rock to collect all the floating metal pieces so that way next time you do it it will be easy to clean). I had the same issue as you but it just turned out to be my clogged up tranny filter  Goodluck!

I haven't done a fluid change on it but the fluid looks pretty clean. I might do that later, not too much later though.

I didnt notice any fluid coming out of where the hose connects to. I might just buy a new hose for it. The old one is pretty soft and slipped off pretty easily, too easy actually which is what cause my problem to begin with.

I'm not sure if that's what its called, it connects from the transmission to the manifold.

Hello, I am having a problem with my 71 buick going into reverse. I did notice I have some transmission fluid leaking but when I check the level it looks fine. I even add a little just to make sure but I think it was too much because when I crunk up the car it over flowed. Can anybody give me a little direction to solve this problem. I have only had the car for about an month. Its a 350 2bl.

Transmission fluid level needs to be checked with the fluid at operating temperature. That takes about 20 minutes of operation at highway speeds. The fluid expands, so if you check it when cold, the level will read low, but it will be full at operating temperatures. You also need to check it with the engine running in Park.

If fluid level is correct and you have a problem of no reverse, that sounds like a more serious problem.

If the vacuum modulator works anything like one does on a Ford C4, you will not have upshifts! Taking this into consideration, sounds more like the governor might be your problem, or fluid levels. Also check your kickdown cable from carb to be sure it is adjusted correctly.
