Hey Chopper, I had to replace the rear lower arms on my 73 Riv about 5 years ago. Thought I would share this info. 94-96 impala, caprice, and roadmaster control arms are the same dimensions. They also come with the holes drilled for the sway bar brackets. GM part # 10000334. At the same time I ordered the sway bar brackets also. GM part # 10191120. The arms come complete with bushings. Last I knew they were still available. Hope this helps.

    Good to know thanks!

I'll get hold of a set of those for when I upgrade to the sway bar.

    Cheers!

Mike (racebuicks), your inbox is full: Does the 72 Riviera still has the coolant overflow tank lid. I'm looking for one.

Sorry for high jacking this thread....

Mark, I bought two more arms last May for another project. They cost about $79 each. As for the pictures, I have the car off the frame for restoration and the assembled frame is in storage. The arms look identical except for 2 smaller holes in the side for the later model emergency brake cable hooks.

FYI... A-body control arms are the same as the Riv (at least on the 2nd gen Riv, so I think Boattails are the same too), so Chevelle/Skylart/leMans/Cutlass arms will fit. They are already available as boxed units.

Excellent news and very good to know, thank you! I wonder how many other parts are interchangable?

64-72 A-body control arms may fit, but A-body sway bars bolt to the inside of the control arm. 71-76 B,C,and E body sway bars bolt from the bottom up to a bracket bolted in the arm. The A-body sway bar is too narrow to use on the B,C,and E bodies. I don't know if 73-77 A-body arms would work, but their sway bars mount the same way as the 71-76 B,C,and E body . Hope this helps.

You could pull them out, make a jig, and fabricate some cool tube ones, with some nice poly bushings. Hey, I wonder if there is a market for these???????

When I do the air-ride this spring, I will pull the rear arms out, and build a jig to make some tube control arms. I can also have them powdercoated. Once I build a set for me, and see how long it will take, I can fabricate some for people if they want. I will post pics. of the work, when I do it...:beers2:

If the control arms are the same as the 94-96 Impala SS, check these out. Good price and quality. I have them on my '96 SS after my aftermarket sway bar cracked the stock control arms. This would be a good upgrade at a reasonable price. You'd want to order the standard length. The extended length are offered as the Impala rear wheels were not centered and sat forward in the wheel openings for some reason.

Very interesting. How weird that the x-frame Riv shares control arms with a Skylark, but the perimiter frame Rivs don't.

These cars are so freaking weird!!

Not even close to being as weird as you, however. Oh, and see you tomorrow night. I'll lay in some Canadian frosty cold ones for ya. :beers2:

A lot of parts that came out on the 71 cars stayed around for 10-15 or more years. Things like Chassis and brake parts, and interior switches and knobs. Its nice to know.

So its been a while since I have posted and sure glad to see all the familiar names.............but to the real reason Im posting is does anyone know what size the bolts are for the upper trail arms. Its the ones that attachs the upper control arms to the dog ears on the diff. They are actually a lil smaller than the others. Somehow my garage ate em..... I have all of em for the lowers and the uppers at the frame but these are a different size.....THANKS ALL.
