I run an external oil pump with a wet sump system. My oil inlet is in the stock location. I'm wondering if I should be using the upper oil inlet rather than the stock location inlet. Which port are you using? Also wanting to setup my accusump/master lube to dump on a low pressure switch so will need a location for it as well. Thanks in advance for any insight.
I have been running mine that way for 3 years so far. 7300 ish down at the big end . Bearings look like new still. You should be just fine.
I also have mine plumbed in the stock location. I am still using the obsolete Peterson WetVac pump and it has worked fine for over a year.
I have my oil in plumbed into the factory oil sender location. I can say that this engine in the wagon has seen more gear changes over 8000 than it deserves. Driver needs to learn to shift. Been on the limiter to many times as well which is set at 8500. Oil pressure down the track is around 67
Hey Alan, it's been a couple of years since we did it, and I'm not staring at it right now, but I think Mike designed a port in the TA block just for the specific purpose that we used for my MasterLube. Mike?
I assume you're talking about Piedmont? I'm heading down there two weeks from tomorrow night! Going over (and under) the car this weekend and hopefully get it out to track here in NJ before I head for NC.
There are at least 3 ports you can pump oil into this block. Oil sender location, passenger front and rear.
My oil pump is plumbed to the stock location and my master lube is plumbed to the upper rear port. I think it even says "IN". Oil pressure is a small NPT on the side of that upper port. Of course I can't see it (1200 miles away) to verify.. Lol..
We plumbed it up so main feed is in stock location and the MasterLube is plumbed to the oil port on the top front of the block. We pull our pressure feed for the switches and data logger from the small port on the side of the rear port Frank is referring to. Kills the engine at 12lbs MasterLube dumps at 30lbs.
My bad Alan...I thought I remembered plumbing the MasterLube into the back of the block, but when we were prepping the car on Saturday I found out my memory had failed me. We used the same top hole in the front that you used.
