My only problem with the block is price.... I know you guys don't care to talk at me but when I can have a C.N.C. Block down for the same price or alittle cheaper then there is something to debate about. I have contacted several people on doing specially things for this T/A Block and any CNC block and they said they can make anything you want, Heads that look like Buick heads but have ports size of Hemi heads and flow just as good and still use T/A products. This guy's just don't build heads to have one off piece's made for them. They want it where you can use exsisting piece's from earlier heads. Cams, well you guy's have made your mind on that. Rods and Crank, some of you know your stuff, Pistons, you are definitly learning. The Intake's well, maybe we should look at this guys for advice,http://www.marcellamanifolds.net/ , This guy worked for some top notch people before going off on his own. Please look at the pictures of his manifolds http://www.marcellamanifolds.net/images/Images.html He also does cast aluminum manifolds, cuts them apart and redoes them to the proper way for better flow, if you are looking for hood clearance! Please think twice on performance and clearance issue. You can't have both.
http://[/IMG],[/IMG] This was a LSX intake made to fit and run on something else. Look closely you can see it was cut in half...
[/IMG] this one consisted of CNC runners and then redone to his spec's, Its a Pontiac intake......
[/IMG] , This is John's Marcella's own stuff here. I hope this will help you all out one way or another.
John as for video we will be using a GoPro camera. I will be making a mount just behind the front wing. That position will look forward(about 10" off the ground) or back towards the engine(less noise up front). I will also use the mount to the right of my helmet for that drivers perspective. May need to make a heat and sound shield for that location. I know for a fact that I will not be holding anything at the yellow but the butterfly wheel:laugh:
Ahem, "tunnel port" heads . . . I don't know if we're thinking of the same heads or not. I wasn't referring to the heads available over the counter back in the day; I meant the ones that required a fabricated intake. None-the-less . . . I know new castings available from TA should be significantly better.
Here are a few more of the Pro charger mock up. When done the Pro charger will be approximately 16"-18" ahead of the block. That measurement will be determined by the combined length of the cam driven accessories. The Pro charger will be mounted to a plate similar to what is in the pictures although it will have a 6 point mount at the engine face. It will most likely resemble a small cage. The plan is to keep the Pro charger inside the body. I will put up some pictures of the 6-71 and Hilborn injector assembly later. This fuel system is done and waiting the long block completion.
That block is just as strong as the Hemi block as per other experts have said! Those guys just dont want you to know it
SuperHero Status attained for John and Ken. Please proceed to checkout counter to receive complementary SuperHero Cape and Ring . . . I cant wait !! I bet Mike will have some sleepless nites coming up. ... Awesome news
Alan we already have a Cape on the Supercat. See attached photos:grin:with Nailhead installed All we can say is thanks for the praise and compliments on the project:beer . As said earlier we want this project of TA's to be a success, so we are building this engine to compete at a top level class. Buick has not been competitive in this class since the early 60's. The more interest there is in this block program the more likely new parts will be offered sooner. This program and associated parts is what the Buick community needs to be more competitive against brand X.
I was asked to put up a few shots of what the car looks like under the skin so here are a few on the jig. Also two shots to show how much difference a 13 hr 2 person paint job can change the appearance (size and shape) of a vehicle. The car has a 6.0 second certification as of now good for 3 years= cost 175.00. The car has passed unlimited nostalgia top fuel = cost for 1 year over 200.00:spank: . So we know if needed we can get the car re-certified as needed. If you have a question feel free to ask:beer
2 Buick powered cars have already gone past 200. No Buick has yet to go 210 and beyond yet:Brow: . We are shooting to be the first Buick to run Nostalgia top fuel. With some possible new rules changes in the works we may run in the Top Dragster category at regional and national events. The higher the placement the better the attention for Buick
Tom back around 68 the Frye brothers broke 200+ with an injected in-line twin Nailhead dragster:TU: . I believe it was around a 208 mph pass. More recent you have the Freeman,Gallina, and Duttweiler at the GS Nationals.6.75 @ 205.9 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvXE-iEHvyo&feature=player_embedded My understanding they are out to break that run this fall:beers2:
