Blessed with amazing weather today, soooooo: Pulled the driver's fender on the Caddy and finished up the main patch panel to fix the only rust (all 69-70 caddy's are rusted here, like 60-66 GM trucks), will do the final little section on a pull max (compound curve I'm not good enough to do) with my buddy's help later. Figure if I get the fenders off now I can have it done by May. Buddy and I took the pile on a road trip for fun, much of which was on mud/gravel. Came home and mowed the lawn (a real rarity in Montana in mid November but 50+ degrees today) then took the beater to a real car wash because I didn't want to drag the hose, bucket, and soap out. Finished up with proper Mexican food and now home watching Roadkill....nice Saturday.

Driving across that bridge would be enough of an adventure for one day. I figure it would take a whole day just to clean the whitewalls on that Caddy.

Yep, that looks good. But I've got access to a killer metal worker who'll be able to work one out with the flange in about 1/100 the time. And I help him on the side so he'll do it for free. I use his TIG to weld my sheet metal, so I'll have everything there besides.

We have a couple metal supply shops here. One I use is Pacific Steel. You use a metal break to do a hard bend in the sheet metal. Softer bends you can just use whatever like your knee, a pole, whatever has the right contour

Yeah, I did the bottom of the doors on my GS that were all rotted out worse than that. Tried fabricating some metal to fit, but it looked like complete crap when I was done. So I cheated.. I cut the bottoms off a couple Monte Carlo doors (same interior structure just a different exterior skin). I got access to some 70-72 Monte Carlos that are rust free, but nobody seems to like Monte Carlos.

Polishing the grille. There's 210 slots (14 rows wide and 15 rows up and down). I've been doing it 3 hours a night for 2 nights. I've got 196 to go..... but I've got till May. Maybe June.
