Thoughts. Buying new tires for my ride. Has 15s on. Chrome old school look. Running 205s all around. Looks terrible
Thinking about 255-60-15 rear and 235-60-15 front.
Only other thought was 245 fronts. Any info or opinions before I pull trigger?

235/60's would would work best with the front. They are also a more popular size and will be easier to obtain in the future. What size rims are you running?

The 235 and 255 should look great on those wheels!

Alright I’m gonna pull trigger. Thanks for advice. The current 205-60-15 tires look awful.

The 205/60R-15 is not even 25" tall, no wonder they look bad. The 255 tire will be 50mm wider, that is roughly 2". Take a look at you current tire/wheel at each corner of the car. Do you have enough clearance for the wider tire on the inside and outside? Check the front at full lock, left and right.

What tires fit on a 68-69 Skylark/GS will depend on the back spacing of your wheels.

Ok cool. I’ll double check. Was told the wheels were very similar to stock set up

The wheels actually may be 15x6 with a 3.25 BS

:DFamous last words:D Check first. Take the wheels off, measure back space. It is easy, that way you know for sure.

Agree. Car is going in for engine work. Ill have done then. Is there a limit wt BS I should know before buying tires? That will fit on 68 Skylark? Non GS

It will depend on wheel width and the back spacing. Figure out what you currently have now, and go from there. Anything I tell you now may not help you if your current wheels don't have the optimal back spacing. There are guys that fit a P275/60R-15 in the back of a 68-69 car. They usually use an 8" wide wheel with 5" or 5 1/8" B.S. The 68-69 cars came with 14 X 6" wheels. The 70 and up 15 X 7" wheels had 4 3/8" B.S. from the factory. The 70-72 Skylark /GS had bigger wheel wells and can get away with less back space. The back of the car has less clearance than the front. Stock 15 X 7" wheels would probably be no problem with the 235 or 245 tires in the front.

    Question

235x50x18s on 18x8s with 6.27 BS. Will it work on a 69 GS ya think?

That's about an inch more back spacing than you need on an 8" rim. Might hit the frame on the front at full lock, or the shock mounting in the back. Hard to say. Tires are fine, might be too much B.S. Maybe someone else with a 68-69 will comment.

I just discovered that the 2011 regal wheels are 5x120. The difference in ours, .65mm is spread across 5 lugs at almost a human hair. Checking everywhere, wheel shops said they will fit studs.

I could buy the 3 from the junk yard for 25 each, or find another donor car. But I'd rather not throw money away.

How about adapter or spacers as a solution?

Those are unsafe IMO. I would never use them.

Don’t know for sure - but it seems others have used the old school Buick rims 8x15 and have gotten away with a 275/60/15’s to fit. Any truth to that?

Yes, I have seen this to be true on a couple cars with no wheelhouse mods. You definitely need to measure to make sure your body is centered on frame. Mine is out .375 and would most likely rub on drivers side unless centered.
Even though I have seen this, I never did asked the owners if it ever rubbed going over bumps or dips in the road.
