I just picked up a 1970 Skylark Convertable with 14 inch wheels and 205/70/14 tires. Will 225/60/14 size fit without rubbing. Thanks Larry

Yes, but that is the wrong tire for the car. When your car was new, it came with G78-14's. That tire was 27" tall. Your current tires (P205/70R-14) are 25.3" tall. The P225/60R-14 is even shorter, 24.6". If I was you, I'd step up to 15" wheels. The tire selection is MUCH better. There is no difference between the wheel wells of your Skylark and a GS. The optional tire for the GS was a G70-14 and a G60-15. The closest P metric tire sizes for those two tires is P225/70R-14 and P245/60R-15. If you want to stay with 14" wheels, then P225/70R-14 is the size you want. The closest to a G78-14 is a P215/75R-14. The 70-72 Skylark/GS cars had very large wheel wells.

Here are some pics of my 71 with all three options to give you perspective.

    #1 - 205/70/14 Whitewalls when I bought it with original 14" wheels.
    #2 - 225/60/14 T/A's that I had in the garage and threw on for a while, .
    #3 - Recent Cooper 245/60/15's on repop 15"s that I bought through Summit .

#3 The clear winner in my opinion.

I have Cooper Cobras on mine. 15 X 7 wheels in front with P255/60R-15, and 15 X 8 wheels with P275/60R-15 out back.
