Tips n tricks for long headers install

    Ok guys pops car 70 GS 455
    Will be installing long tube headers back any tips and tricks on this without a bunch of cussing....
    Front core support is off plan on installing trans and engine together then slide it in.

    Any advice is appreciated

    My only experience is with 67s, but lay headers in place on blankets and wire them up out of the way as much as possible. Make sure car is high enough that u can slide in underneath to manipulate them.
    Prepare for cussing, it’s inevitable.

    You'll have no issue with the engine/trans out especially with the rad support out,..just set them in and if possible I'd put one collector bolt in and leave it loose then then slide the engine and trans in. Should be able to pick up in the headers and start the bomts with the engine off the mounts by several inches which will make the two center bolts much easier.

    If you plan on using 12pt bolts substitute 6pt bomts on the center two. 98% of the time they actually are easier to wrench than the 12pt in those locations

    I found that the header flange that bolts to the cylinder head did not allow the dipstick tube to go into the block. had to grind a notch. Glad I test fit before I installed the engine!
