    Check your voltage!
So I just got back from a drive and I open my hood to put some washer fluid in, and I hear a hissing comming from my battery. My month old battery. The caps for adding water were not all the way down.I carefully popped them the rest of the way and heard pressure let out. I can see little bubbles in the water inside the battery. The motor was turned off by the way. So I start it up and check my voltage. Around 14 at idle... sounds bought right, once I openned the gas it increased and topped out at about 18V... way to much. I changed the regulator and now the voltage stays right at 14.7. I have no idea how long the regulator wasn't working for. I'm lucky it didn't cook my radio or anything. I did change my alternator and battery about a month or 2 ago, so maybe there is some connection (bad volt reg killed the alt, or vise versa). So next time you open your hood check the volatage across your battery and see what you get, and bring up the RPMS. Should be real close to 14.7...
