This 87 Turbo T has been resting in my garage sense 1999. How time flies when you are having fun with other cars. This is a Nov build Black car with 46K , bought it in 1996. Moon roof car with manual windows and seats. Never had very many mods. I will try to return it original, well may need to change the recall chip. It has been started every year and will need the normal things done to get it back on the road. DSC03717.JPG DSC03718.JPG DSC03719.JPG DSC03720.JPG DSC03721.JPG DSC03722.JPG

Wow... It is a NOV of 1986 build for the 1987 model year. They were only building Grand Nationals after August of 1987. You couldn't even get the moon roof (RPO CF5) on them by then... Moon roof, cornering lights (prevents having blackout trim WO2), aftermarket lower door speakers

Steve you are better at these than I am. I am trying to remember who told me it was a Nov build, well that was 20 years ago and I can not remember. So the moon roof and corning lights prevent it from having blackout trim? Where do I look to find the build date? Yes aftermarket lower door speakers, I have nice original lower ones to put on. Thanks for the info.

It's for sure a build prior to December '86 since it has chrome bumpers and chrome trim. After that, Buick announced the WE4 Turbo Ts which had all black bumpers and black trim and they wouldn't take any orders for black cars with chrome trim any longer. Nice rare care.

I bought a brand new WE4 Turbo T in 1987. Owned it for 5 years. T- tops, nice car. Paint was crap.

Made a mistake, not a Nov car it was made 9 of 86, it is a Sept. Found the build date on the drivers door.

I was wondering if the side trim and pin stripe are factory, and if I could tell from the codes on the underside of the deck lid, but do not have a code list.

    There were several optional moldings
    1) Body Side Protective Moldings option code B88 - cost $60
    2) Door Edge Guards, Black option code B91 - cost cost $15

I've not seen a factory side stripe option on the GNs or TTypes but, there was a stripe option for the Limiteds called "Body Side Stripe". However, each different color stripe had a different option code. I've looked over about 30 1987 window stickers and couldn't find a side stripe option on any of them except Limiteds. Hope this is helpful.

The factory body side moldings was a no-cost option (came with basic Regal package, but could be left off). The RPO for chrome edged body side molding was a two number code followed by Q (like 19Q for black body side molding with chrome edging; B88 was the TOTAL black body side molding on cars with WO2 (black-out trim) found on GN's (WE2), Turbo-T's (WE4), T-package with black-out trim (Y56 with WO2). The body side stripes were ALSO a no-cost option, that could be deleted, or was NOT available with certain paints (D84) or packages (WE2)

Quoted from a post above by Ray Kammer: It's for sure a build prior to December '86 since it has chrome bumpers and chrome trim. After that, Buick announced the WE4 Turbo Ts which had all black bumpers and black trim and they wouldn't take any orders for black cars with chrome trim any longer. Nice rare care. Slightly wrong Ray... Actually it was the REVERSE : you could NOT get the WO2 trim on a black car BECAUSE of the upcoming WE4; That eliminated the Black paint (19L/19U) combined with the Black-out trim (WO2) with the chrome bumpers. You could get a black car with chrome trim/ chrome bumpers all the way up to July of 1987.
Also a slight mis-understanding from my earlier post: The moon roof (CF5) could be had on ANY Regal with or without the blackout trim for the duration of the regular build; The Cornering lights (T87), as well as several other options that were only available in chrome or stainless prevented the black-out trim (WO2).
This should clarify some things. NOTE :Revisions occured BEFORE and AFTER this info was put out. http://gnttype.org/numbers/rpo.html
It covers the WE4 as well.

Thanks everyone for the info. Steve I was able to verify the body side molding Q19, black with chrome edging. The white pin stripes ( body side stripes, I am unable to verify, cannot find in the link you provided the code it should be, again thanks.

White pin stripes, if factory, should be 11A

Another trim question on the Turbo T, It has chip guard on the lower panels, wondering if this is factory applied or done by the dealer? If it is factory is there a code for it. Thanks Bill.

Thanks for all the replies and help, one more thing, what was the color of the shocks on 87 T-Type/GN cars, were they gray like the older ones or black?
