IMG_2332.PNG You may want to take a look at these Setrab oil coolers. I have been using one of their trans coolers for 20+ years with no problems.

No offense taken, the plan was not to run a stk rd motor that fast, but sometime the time tables don't work in our favor and we just have to do what we have to do. I know I'm pushing the envelope with the rods. But the point I was getting to is if a motor that see nothing but wide open can live that long without being filled making around 600hp, I really cant see the reason to fill a street motor making similar power that will not see the wot time our motor has.

Our new motor mike is building is going to be filled and girdled but we are aiming for 725 to 750 and north of 6500 rpm and living thete not just visiting

Ben, I understand what your saying, but one thing that needs to be pointed out is that all stock 455 rods are not the same. There was quite a variation in how they were forged/machined. Some have nice centered small ends, others are way offset, still others way thin.. to an extent the same goes for the big end. I had a box that probably had 100-150 stock rods in it, when I used to re-do and use them for my builds, and it would not be uncommon for me to look at 18-24 rods to get a 'select' set of 8 to put bolts in and re-size. And then, you run into one or two in the bolt install/resize process that have to be rejected because the big end alignment goes to the dogs after the bolts are fitted, but that's a whole 'nother nitemare. I still use stock rods, and still have the big box, but the ability to put a 7/16 cap screw rod in these HP builds, for a reasonable price, is one of the biggest steps forward for the 455 in a while.

It took 12 rods to get 7 good ones
