Asinine. Anyone else for patent system reform? http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-...,525,747.WKU.&OS=PN/6,525,747&RS=PN/6,525,747 - Freed
They can take it up with V-Bulletin... we are a liscenced user only, not a manufacturer.. And yes, it's a dumb patent. JW
I don't read jack-ass. Can someone translate? Is it saying that if you offer or buy anything over the internet you are in violation?
Not quite, it is saying that if you have an online discussion about an item offered for sale online you are in violation. I think that encompasses just about everyone here. o No: - Freed
Filed: August 2, 1999 Sorry, but my development of SkyroarBBS in 1985 predates the patent... oh... the other 1798371931 developers who created a BBS or messaging system will be most happy to lay claim to the Amazon empire for infringment of trade secret. So... who patened the Cashgrab? ...better question, who prosecutes Cashgrabbers?
:boring:  Ok, I actually read thru much of that garbage...towards the bottom there is actually some English being used. It seems to me it pertains only to "commercial transactions", not private party sales, on a non-profit board.
So it's OK for me to sell a used laptop here, but it's illegal for anyone to sell anything here related to their business? I'm sticking by my initial reaction of "asinine". :moonu: - Freed
I think the only reason most of them patens are not enforce is cause most of the internet still uses telephone lines. It is no different than ordering stuff over the phone. Now if the whole world was on fiber optic it may get funny. -Matt
