The oil on the dip stick looks like milk. The air breather was full of water. Yes, trans fluid puffs lots of smoke. Back in the 70s we would pour it down the carb to make the clouds. Was told it helped clean the carb. Not sure if it was true but it was fun.
Trees are covering the main stripes in the road but here is part of one several days after the fact. Heading over to work on it and will check the modulator to be sure. thank you oil.jpg

I abused and sent a few cars to salvage in 70s. I have never seen water in the oil except for a blown Head gasket or either cracked block or head. That is why I asked for advice on if it could be something else.

I have not looked underneath but my old freespirit had a crossover. The smoke starts pouring out right when it is started. It is more of a cloud and not just steam, as it appears to me.

PULL THE PLUGS. THE CLEAN ONES ARE WHERE THE LEAK IS ORIGINATING FROM.

    UPDATE::
Pulled all the plugs and none showed any signs of oil fouling and looked like a little rusty and still gapped correctly. this is not mine and mine were a little less rusty. plug.JPG

Started it and light white smoke coming from the pipes. YES, this car's exhaust crosses over and joins before the cat and splits back to dual pipes.

I pulled the rad cap and white smoke coming out of the rad. I caught some in a mason jar. It has a strong odor of gas. jar.jpg

    Thoughts?????

    All the plugs looked identical.

you can also get a block tester kit......its just a tube you put into the radiator at the cap, the fluid is blue and turns greenish yellow in the presents of carbonmonoxide. these are not cheap and work great

new fluid on left, bad fluid on right, vehicle I was testing turned the fluid white.......never seen that b4. was going to get some new fluid and retest.

Not sure if you saw it but the last post talked about white exhaust coming out of my radiator with the smell of exhaust mixed with raw fuel. Would the test kit provide me with more information than already physically observed?

never seen anyone catch odors or gases from a radiator in a jar b4, but I didnt see the post.
I guess that's a decision for you to make on if it will give you more information or not.
I would assume gas odor in the radiator would indicate combustion gases present. the block test I know what it shows........except the one test I posted the photo on where the fluid turned clear. in 25 years, I have never seen that result

I'm just suggesting thing I do everyday in my repair shop.

do a leakdown test and that will tell you what happened.

    alec296 i need another buick

If you are blowing coolant out the exhaust, expect to be replacing a catalytic converter in the near future. If it has them.

You need to rent a pressure tester to pump up the Cooling system and check for leaks then you need to do a compression test with all the plugs out.

If you do not remove all the plugs I have seen many times where a head gasket was blown just between two cylinders and those two cylinders still showed some compression.
