Hello all I need a little direction, with my block at the machine shop and suspension, brakes and upholstery taken care of I’m now moving to the next issue I want to address which is the ac system. I have to buy a new ac compressor with brackets and that’s all I know about the ac system in my 67 wildcat. When bought it some ac parts were there but I don’t know if it’s original or if they worked properly. I took some pictures with this post of the parts that’s there now. As far as the controls on the dash for the heating/ ac they’re all there and I believe have power. If anyone could give some direction or input I would greatly appreciate it

Do you want it to look all original under the hood or would you rather have better functioning AC with a non original compressor set up?

I want the best functional ac system available. I will be taking the wildcat to hot August nights and on a very slim time line but want it done right. I was told the current ac system there is still good but who knows

You can send the POA valve to Classic Auto Air. They will referb and calibrate for 134A. Get a pro6ten compressor from the same place. It fits the factory mount and lines. Lighter and less power to operate. will not leak from the front seal like the factory A6 did.

I love my a6 original compressor!
I converted system to r134 and it blows 37 degrees and looks stock.
When right those a6 compressors make enough cooling power for a small house lol

    That's because they are around 100,000 BTU's

I ran an A6 in my 72 Chebby pick-up for 7 years with 134 and never added refrigerant. If you want to remove the factory system and start from scratch get a vintage air system. It'll clean up you engine compartment.

  10. I'd rebuild the stock system and use R12. You can get it for around $35 per pound on eBay. I added a stock system to my non-A/C built Centurion and couldn't be happier. The only modification was the use of Pro6ten compressor in place of the A6. CTC Auto Ranch in Texas should be able to supply the original compressor brackets.

If you're not in a big hurry and reasonably close to Montreal, I can supply all the underhood hoses, brackets, condenser,rec/dryer etc. from my A/C system for the price of shipping as I'm removing the A/C system from my '68 Wildcat. The compressor is shot however.

Hello 68 wildcat, I live in Central Valley ca. I’m willing to pay for it, you can put the cost of shipping, services and inconvenience all into the price. I’ve been looking for the parts locally but unfortunately I haven’t had any luck. Can you pm me the details and I’ll jump on it right away.

Need some group wisdom here... I'm sending my A/C parts t0 "67 pushin fast" in CA. from Montreal and wondered if sending the condenser in front of the rad is worthwhile, or should that be replaced with a new or
generic one as it's a big thing to ship. The car did have a slight hiss when I cracked the line, but the system was essentially empty so I can't speak to the condition of it.

Please check if you still have this bracket on the motor. let me know if you need it as I will have to find the non a/c type to remount my alternator. Also, do you need the condenser as it's big to ship or just all the lines and hoses.

Spent 2.5 Hr's removing the underhood A/C parts today. Here's a pic of all the underhood parts that you will need to restore your A/C. The hoses should be treated as good cores and be rebuilt but all the fittings came off perfectly and will seal well. Should probably have a new Rec/Dryer as well. The refrig oil that leaked out was clear as water and that bodes well for the condition of the rest of the A/C parts. Let me know what you have and what you will need as there is no point shipping stuff across the continent that you don't want. Keep in mind the compressor is shot and I will need a replacement Alternator bracket(non A/C) as I don't want to disable my car to send you the bracket. If you are able to swap brackets, let me know and I will PM you my address.
