I'm looking into a new Terraza for to replace her 180k mile 95 Lumana APV. The power plant is a 3500 V6 and wish they had a 3800 offered, but thats GM shooting them self in the foot again! Has anyone bought or heard anything about this new offering by Buick. Thanks AL.

    Al,
Dana & I saw one at a Buick dealership a couple of weeks ago...What can I say it's a mini-van, but it does have a long hood with a tri-shield ornament...
Dana says it's actually pretty nice for a mini-van, but I'm repulsed by them so I wouldn't even look at it.

Beth, what do you mean by repulsed? I'm not the sharped tool in the shed, AL.

Repulsed - To repel with denial, discourtesy, or the like; refuse or reject. A refusal or rejection.

I find mini vans ugly, and IMO the symbol of a life style "soccer mom" I will have NO part of (no offence to any soccer moms out there ). Racer mom yes... soccer mom no.
Around here mini vans are filled with moms on cell phones, who think all should yield to them, while they sip their Lattes, look at their little hand held computers to figure out what time Buffy has to be at skating pratice. :Dou:

I'm not interested in one (you and I have the same taste in cars) its my wife has show dogs and she wants something with class and not a over grown "SUV". Right now she has a 95 Lumina APV thats getting up in miles and beganing to show it so the Teraza look like it may work, AL.

    Minivan...

I have taken a pretty good look at the Terraza as my wife's '93 Roadmaster is beginning to get a little long in the tooth. With 4 children ages 4 to 16, the Road"Monster" gets a little cramped on the two day trips back to the midwest.

I'm disappointed in that there isn't a deep cargo area behind the rear seat ala the Sienna, Odyssey and Caravan. The vehicle seems very nice, however.

The 48 month 60K warranty looks attractive enough on the '06 models. The dealer here in AZ I drive by still has loads of '05 models. I'm guessing 6 to 8 grand off sticker would be possible.

I don't have one but, perhaps they could also be for someone who has kids and needs more room than a traditional SUV offers? :Do No:

Not everyone cares about how cool they look in their rides.

Al, I had one early this year as a company car, not a bad ride for a van. If you decide you want one I may be able to help you with a deal with the "GM in the driveway" program, let me know![IMG]

Is the Teraza named for John Heinz-Kerry's wife?

The special GM in the Driveway pricing is the same as the price our preferred suppliers pay. (4% over employee price) Your friends can also combine their discounts with current incentives to receive the maximum value! This offer is valid through January 3, 2006.

Email me the VIN and dealer name and I can tell you if you can save any money, sometimes the dealers have been doing better than this deal!

What scares me the most about this van is the drivetrain. Since everything is "corporate" now and GM is concerned about the most profits out of little investment in product , I would be concerned. From what I've read, the motor in this van is the same one in the Chevy Malibu today. Logic dictates that the motor is Chevy engineered. Will this van last long? or fall apart quick? If I was Buick, I would put their 3800 series motor in this van (and optional in everything they sell) since it is the most reliable motor they got . Just my two cents

    Roberta,
Not to throw the thread off track Al, sorry. But what is with the GM badges on the new cars? :Do No:

    New Ride???

Wayne, I wish the 3800 was a option. If it was one would have been in my driveway! I bought my wife a 95 Chevrolet Lumina APV with a 3.1 V6 and it has held up well for 178K miles with very little trouble. That was available with the 3800 so why didn't they offer it in the high end models like the Buick and Pontiac in 2005 with the new body style? AL.

The Sticker on the 2005 Buick Teraza is 36K and it was offered to be at 27K  AL.

But I bet if you knew you could fit a Buick 455 in a Chevy Astro van you would be all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake.

    GM Badges on new cars

Someone wrote a suggestion, and got paid big bucks, not sure but read something about marketing and making the public realize these cars are GM, not some clone of some other company or something like that! I'll look for the announcement when I get a chance.

    Right!

Wayne, you are right on, and this question has been asked about the Terraza, and Rendezvous, and how many more could have been sold if the venerable 3800 had been the basic engine, and it's probably because it doesn't meet the lastest standards, even though it is the easiest for the dealers to work on, doesn't take an arm and leg to fix, duh? and is one of the best engines GM has ever produced, and is probably going to be gone by the end of the 2007 model year when the High Feature V6, 3.6 MFI and SIDI and optional 2.? are built for the same vehicles, and new models of Buick, Saturn and GMC crossover(can you say Sportwagons?) at the new assembly plant in Lansing Delta Township.
