Back on the road and seems quite a bit happier throwing the load to the drive wheels.

Alignment done Friday morning. Set now to new Global West caster and camber specs.

Made some beating rips Saturday and a little Sunday and everything is working well.

This week I will measure instant center, center of gravity, etc...and refine the HR PartsNstuff rear bar preload, and play around with rear springs.

    It's time to order slicks.

    Slicks done!

Back to the rear set up, now prepped with slicks for track, but still trying to optimize for street hooking. Changes to the front are done. The Front 1.25" stabilizer bar is off and takes 21 lbs off the nose and overall weight. The HR rear bar makes up for it and keeps it still very streetable and after all the work so far...adjustable and awesome but for the potential of rear spring & shocks tuning / upgrade.
current race weight with 205 lb driver = 1920bs front / 1760lbs rear scales on all fours at 3540lbs total, 52% / 48%
Any thoughts on QA1 2x adjustable rear coil overs?

Look at the Vikings, but the stock location coil overs are in my mind only good for ride height adjustability, for best shock action and reaction they need to be up rite. A true rear coil over conversation and Wildrides box is on my to do list.

You can also run the TRZ adjustable spring perches with a 2.5in coil over springs that setup works well also

Mark, what rear shocks are you using ? Double adjustables ? Trying to improve street/strip traction myself.

Single QA 1. Likely will switch to 2x adjustable

Updating this thread for Spring track action.

I installed the flaming river rear double adjustable coil over shocks last fall. The best 60' I could get was 1.89. Issue: Final drive ratio with the M22 and 3.7 rear 29" tre is 3.36:1 and I was in first gear way too long. 12.15-12.20 @114 +/- mph consistently throught the 1/4 mile.

Today I swapped the 44 lb power steering setup out for a 14lb rebuilt Manual Steering box. 30lbs right off the nose. Currently scales with 205lb driver 1890 lb front (51.8%) / 1760 lb rear (48.2%) = curb 3510 lb. <- Not bad for full dressed 70 Skylark.

Next is addressing the 60'. I am swapping out the Muncie M22 for a Midwest Muncie M23 unit end of January. This trans should be damn near indestructble and will be a major re-gearing from the close ratio M22 which is 2.20/1.64/1.28/1.1.
I can't wait for the M23 gearing which is 2.99/1.88/1.35.1:1

    Goal: 1.50-1.60 @ 60' / 11.50-11.60 @ 1/4 mile.

    Stay tuned

It's easier to pilot a manual steer 4speed car too. You'll like it more better

I am looking forward to it Ethan! Havent tuned it with the nitrous yet as I am waiting for the setup to dial N/A at the track.

The car was hooking up great so the re-gearing should do it and still enjoy the 3.7 for highway driving and to the track.

I have that same trans sitting in a crate. Hope to drive it this spring. How do you like yours?

Won’t have the trans from Jeff until late January. Did you go with the 2.99 gear set?

I’ve been pondering a trans like that. There is the traditional M20 cluster, with the 2:56 first, then the lower cluster, with the 2:99 first.
What is the numerically lowest gear you guys have ran with the traditional 2:56 set and a BBB?
I’ve always ran M21/M22 style ratios with steeper gears.

I've got the m22w and 3.42s. best 60' i could get was 1.88. that was with a 26" tire too. i was able to pull 12.05@115 though. I'm in the same boat. if i can 60' 1.5-1.6 I'm going 11.50s.. full dress car aswell. I think the 3.42s are too high. I'm swapping in a 3.89 ford 9". I was nervous with the stock axles after i started getting it to hook. i was only leaving around 2800 or so.

I chose the 2.99 set to keep the 3.7 geared 9" with 29" tire should be tasty.

were you spinning or bogging on launch? what rpm were you leaving?

    Yes, 2.99, 2.04, 1.47, 1 with 3.31 rear and 27" street tire

Leaving at 3200 - 3500 didn't make much difference. Not spinning, suspension travels beautifully. It is not really bogging like nose over power down but it dropped the rpm down and made the 1st gear travel way too long and 60' -330' sucked. It is a function of the launch gear ratio with 29" tire, 2.20 first gear and 3.7 rear gear had me at a effective 7.4% reduction. The 2.99 first gear, same tire and rear combo will produce an optimal 10.4% reduction and launch to 60' to 330' will be greatly improved.
