I see that - yes - this is a good way to keep the rear end up when the springs are gone. :Dou: :error:

Don't mean to stir trouble, but disc brakes were not "standard" on big block cars in '71-72. If you selected the big block engines, the order form said that the disc brake option was required, still as an option. This may have led to a few exceptions. It's a subtle difference but I don't think it is correct to say that they were standard with the big engines. They were still an option you were supposed to be required to select and pay for.

"Required" and "standard" sound pretty similar to me. Same thing with 70 GSX cars, disc brakes were "standard" ( or required ) but there is at least one out there with drums. ( wonder if that one came with a rebate?! )

So... anyone (Fred?) confirm if this is a different car? I emailed the seller, and he/she replied that it IS his car, not a scam, proof being that no payment is expected until the buyer inspects the car, as the listing states. Hard to argue with that.

The car in the add in that garage is not in atlanta, those pics were taken in a garage in minnesota as of the date of ebay add that car was and is sitting several states away from the atlanta airport. Whats his deal? Do not know? maybe bored? maybe nuts? maybe thief?

This GS is definitely Bud's old GS, from the fender mounted antenna, to the red painted hood scoops, to the sport mirrors.

Fred, if you retained have any information (VIN/Fisher Body number) from your old car, I can prove if its the same car as this one if you PM me the information (Bud registered his car with me about 7 years ago).

This auction does not look like a scam, as the seller doesnt want any cash up front only after the high bidder has had a chance to inspect it. In my opinion, thats very admirable as the seller doesnt want money if the bidder is not satisfied.

Here is what he just emailed me when I asked him if it was his car and if it came from MN and were it is now:

"I am the registered owner, I did not get it from MN.It is in Atlanta.

I think we have confirmed the car is Bud's old car, question is whether or not the car Fred is talking about is Bud's old car as well.

    this thread is entertaining

Here's some really simple observations and questions. The seller has no feedback and he obviously signed up on ebay just for this auction. He has no trouble with the pics or description and seems very experienced at "conducting" an auction and communicating via email. Why sell a car when you just had throat surgery and can't speak? Who sells a car that can not be seen until AFTER the auction is over? Why not list it after you can remove it from storage and can talk. IMHO Anyone bidding on anything over $1000.00 should inspect the merchandise BEFORE the auction ends. What happens if the high bidder inspects it and isn't happy with the deal? Relist? Why go through the hassle? Why no deposit? Most people want a deposit. Why the wire transfer? Whats wrong with the usual payment options? Oh and we have a member here, Fred that says used to be HIS car and he spoke to the current owner and he still has the car and its not in Atlanta. Also, Fred says the pics were taken in MN....

Sure its possible this whole thing is legit. But if it smells like a fish, swims like a fish and there's a board member here that says he's sure it's a fish, well I'm inclined to think it's a fish. :Dou:

OK as some of you may have guessed. I'm high bidder and I only posted to throw you guys off.

well i have been watching this whole thing, and yes it is buds old car, that is the only stage rag i have ever seen with that color int.. i could have bought it years ago , as could any of us for 53k, i just could not get passed that brown int..., i talked to bud several times and he seemed like a great guy to talk to. i do not know why there is so many ???????? if anyone has real interest, go see it . for the rest of the people who will never own one of these, they seem to know or want to know ever that goes down in the world of buick sales. there are only a few of these cars known to exist, i happen to have one, and as far as the ebay police the problem is between the seller and any potential buyer. whose to say that this guy could have purchased the car from the guy that fred sold it to??? that guy might not live in mn.., therefore, he said he did not buy it from mn..., make sense now?? it does not mean it is a different car. and as far as what is selling? who is buying ? how much did he pay? did it sell?? did it not sell?? that is only between buyers and sellers of their own cars. i know of and have delivered more buicks, that have not been advertised because
most buyers and sellers do not want to be scrutinized by the people who just want to know. p.s. the last buick i delivered was a 1970 yellow gsx standard 455 4 speed with a/c and chocked full of other options, the car was frame off and went down the road at ????????????????????????? you tell me.

The car in the add is not owned by the ebay seller nor does he have the right to sell it. The car is not in his storage and he could not get any new photos or show the car because he does not have it. It is 1500 miles from atlanta safe an sound

Ok, so you talked to the real current owner, is he bothering to notify Ebay about this? Just curious, I would think he might want to do that. All it takes is clicking on a link at the bottom of the ad to report it. Or maybe he wants to see how high it will bid to... I'm surprised the ad is still there.

    Wow!

Maybe either the 'potential buyer' is going to get mugged/kidnapped when they go look at the car, or it is a 'bait and switch' situation.

160K is current bid. A lot of money for the wrong trans and rear, as well as "bad paint". This auction should shake a few more Stage 1 convertibles out of the tree. Dan
