I just saw a presentation by Mike Lietdke the engineer director for gm concept cars the other day. From what he was saying gm actually plans on bringing back power into many of their cars. He showed many cars that they are supposed to start producing in the next few years and many of them had hp ratings of 400 or more. It would be great if they do start producing these cars since they killed 2 of their best cars this year.

I would think that something special will end up front.

My guess is that with Caddy getting its new roadster this next year and with Caddy going to rear wheel drive, I bet that a 'Vette like drivetrain or a North-South Northstar might end up in it. Also, if they do put in the 4.2 straight 6, a blower would be a nice add on. Look at BMW, they still love a straight motor. Maybe they will come up with a straight 8 and go retro Buick!:jd:

John, if it had a 6 banger like yours I would be all over that! Your opel has to be one of my favorite cars, I love opels anyway. But you know it wouldn't be anywhere near that powerful. I see it kind of ending up like the PT cruiser. Lots of style, but no power to back it up. I haven't really seen GM do something outrageous like Ford and Dodge especially. When GM tries to do something different, we end up with the Pontiac Aztec, Vibe, etc. It would sure be cool if they produced it, but from GMs recent history I doubt that it would turn out like we have it pictured in our heads. But I would be glad if they decided to prove me wrong on this one.

Buick better hurry up and build it. I read today in the January issue of Car Craft(a.k.a. CHEVYCRAFT) that Ford may be building their version of the Mercury Marauder and calling it, you guessed it BLACKHAWK:puzzled:

The P.T. is a nother good point. I may be imagining things, but i seem to remember this car (in the early stages) being set up with an 8 and a 4-speed. at that point it was a very cool idea. but after i found out that it was a neon platform, I lost all intrest. It's a wierd looking grocery getter. Nice inside, I'll give it that.:Do No:

The Turbo PT is a fun little car. I had a chance to go for a ride in one and it felt about as strong as my SC Regal. I think the 1/4 times are 15.3. Not bad for bone stock.

They have had a few bumps in the road as far as the engine like the issues Joe mentioned. And forgetting to put oil in it had it's own draw backs. My understanding is they were working like crazy to get it done in time and forgot to put the oil in it.
