Haven't been posting much lately but never fear, Im still "keeping it real" and clicking off miles on the beater.

I had the beater at the local cruise night last Friday and the car didn't disappoint! It drew it's usual amount of attention and onlookers. The mst popular question seems to be, "where did you find it??" It's got a little over 4000 trouble free miles on her now since the 4 speed conversion. Thing runs like a top. Most reliable and best running car I have aside from the Challenger but its damn close! I wouldn't think twice about driving it out of state

Funny, Im starting to find notes on it now asking if I want to sell it! :D:D

I had a gold 69 GS-400 back in the day that was in the same condition as this car right down to the black steel wheels. I had a nasty 455 in it with a C107 cam. Car was scary fast and sounded like a pro stocker with that cam. I used to waste Corvettes with it while they got pelted with bits of the tattered vinyl top that would peel off

My dads 4speed car was from Manhattan pretty much all its life,...rusty wasn't the word,...but I drove it to high school occasionally it was bone stock 70 455 car but ran extremely strong for what it was,..but I was racing a friend of mine in his built 95 GT stang and when I grabbed 3rd a half full antifreeze jug fell out of the bottom of the 1/4 panel and he about wrecked trying to dodge it,..ha car was so much fun

You probably had seen it at some point fella owned a Bike/pet/scooter shop on Houston Street was black primer with red oxide primer here and there,...was ROUGH looking

Ha! That was John's old car. He lives in Arizona now. Omg...he talks about that rusty black car all the time! Said it was rotted to death! He just recently bought Csordas's white Stage 1 4 speed so he's still in the game. So funny. I have to tell him.

I'm glad he got another car,..he is a character for sure,..when the wrecker driver got back with it and the Lemans he said "that guy is nutz" said John slung both of them across the street sideways with tires howling and smoke with people blowing horns and going crazy

John is a hell of a nice guy no doubt

I actually drove it around about an hour Sunday,..giving it hell as always

What ever happened to his LeMans? Post up a pic of the black car and I'll show it to him. He's up here right now so I'll probably see him this week

    And he's still a character!

I was asked to post more about my 69 GS I had....

I bought it when I was 20. Found it in the local paper. It was being sold by the original owner which at that time, wasn't that unusual. I got the car for $800. Paint was chalky, Floors were rusty and the quarters had holes in them. The top was literally tattered. The seller even gave me the sales brochure with all the salesman's writing on the back figuring out the payments and trade in value.

So naturally as a kid, I beat the snot out of it and proceeded to pop the original 400. Now what? So I go back to the local paper and find a 70 Electra 4 door for sale for $300. Seller was an elderly Itailan guy. Thick accent. Bought the car brand new. And the car was mint! I remember the car ran like a top but the alternator was screaming. Seller took $60 off the price so I got it for $240. A running 70 455 for $240!!! So I slapped a set of plates on it and drove it home. Well, almost home. I had to park it around the block because I already had too many cars and my parents would have a melt down if I brought another car home!

Luckily, They were going away for the weekend. So as soon as they left, I got a few friends over, and the GS got its 400 yanked out. Pushed the car into the street and the Electra got pulled in and got the 455 yanked. I called the local wrecking yard for the Electra. To this day, I still feel bad junking that car. The car gleamed. Bumpers and interior were literally like new. But off it went! The GS got pushed back in the driveway and the 455 got installed. Cleaned everything up and by Sunday night, no one was the wiser!

The GS much better with the 455 in it. But it wasn't fast enough. Since it was a Canadian car, it had a Chevy 12 bolt. So the 12 bolt got a Moroso brute strength differential and a set of 4.10's. Holy crap did that car pull with 4.10's!! But now the 455 was pooping out around 4800. So out came the 455 again and went off to the machine shop. I called Kenne Bell and ordered a set of headers and a C107 cam. The trans got a 3500 stall converter and I topped off the engine rebuild with an Edelbrock B4B and a Holley 850. I installed a set of glasspacks on it too. That C107 sounded so freaking radical! Car was scary fast.

The GS was pretty ratty. I put bare steel wheels on it with no hubcaps. Almost looked abandoned! But it was ALL business. I remember setting up races and when they heard the car start up, most of them would back off and not want to race me.

One memorable race was with an at the time, a late model Vette. Guy pulls up next to me at a light and says something derogatory about my car. Oh yeah??? "F" this guy. its on now!! Light turned green, The GS hooked and I was gone! The Vette got killed like it was standing still. I get to the next light, and the Vette would'nt pull up next to me. So I backed up and llined back up with him! I started yelling at him saying, "Hey I thought those cars were fast??" "Did you order that POS with a 6 cylinder??" "Want to go again with my grandfather's car?" Back them I was a 128lbs and a real ball buster. Im honestly surprised I didn't get my ass kicked sometimes.

Eventually sold it to buy a real, Apollo white GSX , after the GSX, came a 72 W-30 4 speed, and a slew of more GS's. Too many to even list. You name it, it passed through my fingers at one time or another
