"Zero to I'll take it in five Seconds"

....is the buyline for a full page ad for the Limpala

"The Impala LS Sport Apearance Packaga. It'll take you all of five seconds to decide you absolutely love its sporty looks, plus the AwsomePower of ots 200 hp 3800 V6 Engine. And that includes two seconds to figure out how you're going to explain buying it to you significant other"

    Puhhhh....Leeeezeeee

    Awsome Power ???

The New Maxima puts out 265 HorsePower !!!

GM - Get a Clue !!! Or just drop dead and let the misery finally end

Lol GM has the capabilty to put out some awsome cars but it seems like they would rather make SUV's. Go figure.

The Impala is a joke...not to mention it's plain jane!! I can't stand their commercials either - next to all the real Impalas. Shoot...even the lowriders look better than these things!:Dou:

Why would anyone buy an Impala anyways...when you could get the SC3800 Bonneville?? All kinds of potential with the SC engines...not to mention - at least the Pontiacs look good!:TU:

Who knows what is going on at GM.... All kinds of 'potential', but very little effort!:Do No: What ever happened to putting out a better product than the next guy?? Or even stranger...building all kinds of cool stuff 'down under' in a much smaller market BUT, not bringing it up here until now!?!:puzzled:

Same goes for the 4 door mini trucks...they built them for years in Brazil, but they waited until almost every other manufacturer had them in the showrooms before bringing them out in the US!:af:

Seems like one series of bad decisions after another!!:stmad: Kill of all the good stuff (GN, 94-96 Impala SS, F-bodies, etc.) and bring out hideous stuff like the Aztec, Impala, etc.:blast: :spank: Not to mention, hand over the pony car and fleet vehicle sales to your nearest competitor (Ford). Just how stupid are these guys anyways!!!!

Why do other companies figure out this stuff quickly...but GM takes decades!!!???:gt:

GM needs to suffer some huge losses and then maybe they will actually get an idea of what people want. Sure I understand they need the "bread and butter" cars, but look at Mopar. They seem to be able to build some appealing cars. And Mercury builds the Marauder. GM just doesn't get it. And they may never....... Brian

They want to keep the vette as THE performance car. Look what happened to the GNX????

Well, to play devil advocate I have to defend one thing about the new Impala. It gets the best gas mileage of any full size car. This makes them great fleet vehicles. With corporate average fuel economy standards GM can only build so many cool cars. They have been building the Metro for years just to increase their average economy rating.

With practical transportation cars like the Impala they can sell more Corvettes and GTO's to the people that really care about performance.

Can't argue with that one! The Buick 3800 engine gets great mileage on the highway. My Riv gets over 30mpg on long trips!!:TU:

What I don't get, is why wouldn't Chevy make use of the SC3800 in the Impala and the Monte Carlo?? Thought I heard that the Monte may FINALLY be getting the SC version!! Long overdue!:Dou: Of course it still doesn't compare to the Grand Prix GTP.

Clint, lets not forget about the people that have their paychecks handed out by GM on Fridays. I'm sure I'm not the only one on this board that is employed by the General.:beer

Although I find myself wondering WHY? just like you guys do when I see some of these cars come out, I'm really not seeing anything exciting from Ford or Chrysler either.

I know I might be a little out of line by saying this but here it go's:
I'm sure you guys spend a lot of time, money, and put in a lot of blood sweat and tears working on your Buicks, just like me.
So why is there sooo much bashing directed towards the company that produced your pride and joy?
Now don't get me wrong, for the most part I feel the pain just like you guys do when I see these lamo cars that GM is making. But I feel like some of you guys would be better off selling your Buicks and buying a car from a company that is "doing it right"

    Well put Todd...............
I have owned, still own and will own GM cars, old and new.
I am employed by a huge grocery chain in upper corp management. I too wonder at the decisions coming from Mahogany Row but can only offer my opinion.
GM has made a decision to go for high end performance as Cadillac will have the power now. They have a roadster sharing the Vette platform (XLR) and that ugly 4 door CTS. Hopefully the GTO will be neat and help replace the Trans Am.
I too see nothing from the competition yet either.
    Thx

the point of this post wasn't to wish GM a quick and timely death.....ht was to point out that GM CAN make cars us performance-oriented buyers want.....but not for US general consumption.

What the brains in the US Divisions do serisouly raises an eyebrow and leave a questionmark in my mind:

    1) 85/87 GN Finally made that car what it should be.....and then its cast aside

    2) Pontiac Fiero finally gets to the peak of its game - then cancelled

    3) Impala SS (and B-Body in general) is an AWSOME car with the LT1....scratch the line and cancel

    4) Camero/Firebird 86'ed......when it was at its peak in performance

What really gets me is the B-Body line....Many many municipalities were running these cars. I used to see a sea of Caprice's as taxi's in NYC....Cop Cars....etc.etc. Now there are all fords.

.....and the B-Body got fairly decent milage too !!

With thinking like this at the top of GMs Ladder i think something distinctly smells up there.

When my fridge gets that funky odor in it....everything gets tossed, it gets sanitized and i go shopping and restock with fresh supplies.

GM needs to clean house.....its Stanks right now !!

Alan I agree with you for the most part but I'd like to point out the not so popular obvious.
1st the Fiero was doomed from the get go, bad design, expensive to fix, and poor quality.

2nd contrary to how we feel about the F-bodies the platform was ancient and sales were not really that good. (of course they should have replaced it, its just like you said, "something stinks")

3rd I'm with you on the B-bodies, I'm not sure what they were afraid of on that deal, I think every red blooded male wanted a Impala SS (94-96) in his driveway back then. It definitely sours me to see the "new" Impala SS getting talked about, how lame.

I am a little dissapointed in the General these days but it gets really old turning on this board every day and seeing people bash GM into the ground. My comments weren't directed towards anyone on this post but it seems like there are a few people on this site that make a living with the "GM still doesn't get it" theme.
