i only have reverse in my th350. all other gears free rev like neutral. also reverse makes a noticeable shift, all other gears do not jerk. what could be wrong with the trans? flud is full and clean. im having a hell of a time finding a BOP replacement locally on craigslist.
Did it just start doing this? Or has it been gradually getting worse, and now has got to this point. I am not a tranny guy, but I thought reverse and first were the same clutch pack. Sounds like the shifter could be out of adjustment? Make sure it is going in to gear correctly and check your vacuum modulator. Good luck.
Sounds like the forward clutch pack is fried. Check the fluid level and condition. If it smells burnt or is black in color, it is time for a rebuild. The forward pack is just that, it is only used then. Reverse uses the low/reverse clutch pack and the 3rd gear (direct) pack. A burnt direct clutch would result in only 1st & 2nd gear with no 3rd gear. It would then would slip in reverse as well. Since you are slipping in all forward speeds, it appears the issue is the foward clutch.
Hello, Juat wanted to drop in and say if needed, I rebuild 350 trannys and 700R4's. I am located in Terre HAute, In. I also rebuild engines as well. Been doing this for over 15 yrs, I do it on the side to help suplement my day job. Shipping on Trannys arent too bad, but engines can be tough, depending on locatins, I have driven to pick up. Let me know if I can be of any help. You may email me at oreillyasstman@yahoo.com Shawn
as said before, forward clutch. make sure when you have it rebuilt, to have the stator support bushings (the 3 bushings in the pump) changed, not usually included in the overhaul kit. the bushing closest to the splines of the input shaft chews it up so you will probibly have to get a new input shat/forward clutch drum. also i would change both one way roller clutches because the springs wear out but they are cheap. turbo 350s are EASY to build so if your going to rebuild it your self, let me know if you have any questions. good luck:beers2:
